Well I can't think of the best of what. Guess I should narrow it down huh?

DJ5...that little motor will last forever if maintained.

Best trail worthy:
Depends on the trail. Sometimes the short wheel base of the CJ/TJ/YJ make them a liability. Sometimes the large stance of the SJ/WJ/ZJ/JK make them too big. The XJ is more middle of the road, but comes with its own set of problems and issues regarding rigidity and upgrades.

Toughest:
My vote goes to the FSJ because of its frame and dependable V8. The 360/401 AMC motors don't have the problems with overheating the way the 4.0L does.

oh one other thing about joining. You have to spend an evening in the obelisk of passion

With or without that Big Daddy?

that question is going to vary person to person. it all depends on what YOU want to do with your rig. i think a zj or a wj would be a great rig to build. i also like yjs alot. i think all different models bring different good things to the table.

Man did i start something with the TJ vs YJ comment. Ive owned 3 different and to ME the best of both worlds is the XJ. Doesn't bob around as much on the road as TJ and doesn't ride like a 2X4 with wheels like a YJ. Comfortable onroad and just as capable offroad and you don't get near as wet. So...anyone know of any spots around San Antonio?

Welcome guys! Buy some raffle tickets to win good stuff for your XJ.

Welcome Michael. How 'bout some stats on the XJ? Pics? Post lots...ask questions...go RED and take advantage of the membership to help speed along your build. :D
I will get my info filled out with the stats and all. My XJ is a 97 sport that is in such stock form that it is sickening. I am trying to get a few bugs worked out before I begin building it up. I still have to keep it a daily driver that will pull a 600 mile trip twice a month, I work off shore out of LA. I made a deal with my wife to get my bike paid off before any major mods, only 6 more months, unless I find some great deals. What is "go red" I need all the help I can find for this little thing. My last 4x4 was a F150 with a solid axle swap and a 16" lift, so my XJ will be a change.

16"!? Holy shit! I thought my footlong was big lol!
