A few days ago my 1998 XJ was totaled.
Some moron ran a redlight. I was t-boned on the passenger side.

The damage is worse than it looks. I was hit dead center on front pass tire.
the whole front suspension shifted towards the driver side about a foot.
Everything suspension is done.
The axle actually broke in half and left my tire dangling by the spline.
The track bar bent and broke in two.
The coil spring is crushed into the body.
The shocks broke in 2.
The radiator was pushed and broken. Quarter panels, hood, front bumper and front header panel, my clear marker lights.
Everything up front.

I do want to mention that I had just finished a lot of projecting on it and added a lot of parts a modifications over an 8 month rebuild.

One item was motor mounts.
Gotta hand it to Brown Dog mounts. The engine appears to have not budged, and it took a real hit, we went flying. I was shocked the fan clutch wasn't what took out the rad. The engine actually turns over and runs.

I have owned and wrenched on my 98 for 11 years.

I had just finished a long stretch of projects on a complete rebuild.
The XJ was in great shape and running stronger then ever.

Now what to do?
-One option is to cut my losses. I have spent both a lot of time and money on my XJ. This is a chance to stop.

-I could also buy another XJ and swap all my parts and mods.

-It's possible to fix and rebuild my XJ stronger. "build it, break it, fix it." just requires more of my time and money.
