Jeeping and Gaming, birds of a feather?

I'm a gamer who plays with Jeeps when I'm not nuking mobs (really, that makes sense to other gamers).

Don't make me gank your ass, n00b. qq more.

P.S. You need to ditch WoW and check out WAR. Much more satisfying to nuke other guys instead of mobs.

Re: Who visits the Red River Chapter boards?

im not a gamer, but i check here every once in a while.

Don't worry, most of these guys wouldn't know CoD4 from WoW, and I don't think Ian and I have ever even discussed our gaming habits prior to this post.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress.

LOL!

We already stopped playing WoW and have gone back to DAoC. I know a lot of people who were playing WAR and are coming back to DAoC cuz WAR is a watered-down, buggy version of DAoC with WoW graphics.

And Realm vs. Realm warfare (3 realms rather than 2 in WAR) is a lot of fun!

Re: Who visits the Red River Chapter boards?

CoD? (I know I'm going to feel stupid for asking that)

Call of Duty. The best of the bunch being Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is the 4th in the series, but only the 3rd created by Infinity Ward, the original developers. Its a first person shooter originally set in WWII (because who doesn't like shooting Nazi's, right?) that is making the jump to "Modern Warfare".

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Tanker. I'll start another thread to get this one back on track.

Alright, I figured we should start our own gaming thread and stop stealing the other one.

So, we've had a couple of folks come out of the woodwork and admit in public that they play video games. Anyone else care to share their gaming obsession?

If it's not clear, i'm an avid gamer, both PC and console. If you can name it, chances are I played it at some point. It's really what defines who I am, even more so than Jeeping. I'm a gamer who offroads, not the other way around.

My favorite games are the various flavors of FPS, RTS, and MMORPG's. Right now I'm playing Call of Duty 4 (PC), Dawn of War II beta, and Warhammer Online. If you want to hook up for gaming, look for [BFK]Kendrik on any FPS (TF2, Cod4, etc.), Kendrik on Xbox Live, or Kendrek the Chosen on the Red Eye Mountain server in WAR.

I mainly stick to PC gaming. Don't have any gaming consoles in my apartment.

Right now, I'm addicted to Left 4 Dead. Although I do jump into a game of Team Fortress 2 or Counter Strike Source every once and while.Thinking of jumping back into Tribes 2 since thats a blast.

Bull. Y'all talked about this at gilmer last trip.

All PC as PC is a serious gamers tool. Console for the kiddies. :P

Originally Quake under Win95 on a stinking 9600 baud modem!!!

Online games:
Quake Team Fortress (the original!)
Tribes
Counter Strike
Counter Strike Source
Some Left4dead
Less TF2

Vs. Computer
Quake
COD4
Crysis
Halo <--- it was a cool arcade type of game!
Half Life 2 (Ep1 Ep2) <--- very good games
Wing Commander (whole series)
XWing Vs Tie Fighter (back when Lucasarts was making good games)
many many more.

LOL!!! I was just about to start a thread and call it "The Nerd Thread" or something to that effect.

Like Kendrik, I'm a gamer first and a Jeeper second. Games are much less expensive! MMORPG's are my thing. I never could get into first person shooters.

I play PC games and have never really enjoyed consoles as much.

Jeeping Vs. Gaming.

When gaming...
1. I hardly ever spill my drink
2. I almost never flip upside down
3. Never break a sweat
4. Excellent gas mileage!

When Jeeping...
1. No mouse (unless I leave my windows down over night)
2. No carpel tunnel syndrome
3. Far less cursing
4. Still use two hands, but one is for signaling and firing warning shots.

Ah yes. I need to find my Halo PC cd. Or I can just download it. I miss warthog launching.

You saw the video of the Jeep (I think it was) that they converted into a Warthog? I want one bad, especially with the 50 cal Gatling gun on the rear deck. :D

Yeah, I think it was off of a Toyota platform. There are some newer pictures of it. Look somewhere on Engadget (or click here). BAMF it is.

I actually played (and beat) all 3 episodes of Doom Co-Op over a 2400bps Modem. My e-peen is bigger than yours. :)

I've been eyeballing L4D, but I just can't make myself buy it. Money's tight, so I'm sticking to my MMO's and older stuff for now.

Also, if you truly consider yourself a connoisseur of Space Combat Sims, you better have Freespace (and Freespace 2) on your list. They made Wing Commander look like kiddie crap, and are the best of breed since XWvTF.

Also, anyone seen the videos for ARMA 2, yet? I LOVED Operation: Flashpoint and ARMA, but the tech. just wasn't quite there for what they were trying to accomplish. For those who don't know, OpFP was a military "sim" that included realistic FPS and near-simulation quality vehicle action. Damn fun stuff.
