Ok so I just finished my axle swap. Got everything all finished up e-break cable, but those wont be here till tomorrow. I wanted to back the jeep out of the garage to get it out. So I bleed all my breaks and everything. all set and ready, put it in reverse and the jeep wont move at all. It torks like its going to move but then dosent. Like all my breaks are locked up. If I stomp on it i can spin the tires a little but it wont move. So I jack the backend up and the tires unload. I keep it in the air and put it in reverse, tires spin backwards just fine. No problem at all. I pull the tires and adjust the breaks thinking that the drums are to tight. I loosen them up a little and try again. Nothing. Jeep torks but wont move. Well now the jeeps ass is out of the garage and I need to get it back in, I put it in N and wont move at all. I put it in 4 high and drive to try and drag it in, but it wont move, I hit the gas alittle more and all of a sudden I get it nasty ratch sound. Whats the problem? Im stumped and so are my brother and dad. Help me out out guys

Will the front tires move under load in 4HI? If they move freely jack the back end up with a floor jack under the diff and drive it back in the garage. As far as what is wrong I have no clue.

Just got off the phone with Chad, I think the issue is the brake rotors/unit bearings. The axle I sold him has Axle shafts/unit bearings from a 2001. He put his rotors from his 1998 on. I think that is what is causing his binding of the front end.

Yep that's the problem Eric. I just jacked ip the front and the tires wont move. There locked up.

Im worried that I may of trashed the ring and pinion though now with the ratching sound I heard when I pulled to pull it in

I sure hope the ring and pinion are fine. I would think it would take more than that to damage the ring and pinion.

If you swapped the leading and tailing shoes you can get brake lockup.

Just got back from Chad's. The issue was certainly having pre 1999.5 rotors on post 1999.5 unit bearings. Hope you enjoy the ARB's, Chad!

Thanks again. I owe you! Everything should be good to go. I filled the diff and am wating to pull her out tomorrow and make sure everything is good to go. I want to get the jeep back all 4's and driving her lol. Tired of not driving MY jeep lol. Thanks again!

You should never just bolt stuff on! Just because it would appear to work does not mean it will. Always check your work as you go and verify what you are putting in/on is a correct match.
