Jeep might move to China

Don't spread FUD....... Jeep is looking at expanding into the China market, not moving American manufacturing to China.

The spokesperson says any production that may happen in China will not affect production or the workforce here in Toledo.

A Chrysler statement says, "Should we produce Jeep vehicles in China, those vehicles would be to meet local market demand in order to avoid high import duties and tariffs."

Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has said a number of times he is committed to the Toledo workforce and growing operations here.

Chrysler sent a statement about the Bloomberg article saying, "Bloomberg recently produced a story that led some to incorrectly believe that all Jeep production could shift to China from North America. That is not true, and Bloomberg quickly amended its story to eliminate any potential inaccurate perception. To be clear, Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China".

Building Jeeps in China is nothing new. When Chrysler bought American Motors in 1987 it also took over control of Beijing Jeep. They stopped building Jeeps in China when Daimler sold Chrysler to Cerberus in 2007.

Do any of you honestly want anything jeep puts out these days?
The writing was on the wall when chrysler took over.
the 4.0 is gone.
SFA is all but gone
The LJ was the last decent rig they turned out.

Go ahead, kill jeep, then I will have two cars from defunct marque's.

RIP: Jeep and Pontiac

you don't have a jeep, you have a 4wd K car.

The latest Jeep Grands are incredible SUV's for typical urban and weekend getaway use, but yeah nothing made anymore that can truly carry the Jeep legacy.

Everything is effin huge. ya basic and almost archaic interiors don't.work for some.... but jeep are.smaller lightweight basic super capable 4wd. none of those words apply anymore.

for 40k, you could build a pretty swweet rig, and still have money left over for a tow vehicle

Hell, there's SO many incredibly built rigs out there so cheap and NOT selling that if you had $40K to spend, you'd have money left over even after the tow vehicle.....

Besides...... when has anyone ever seen someone toss down $40K on a Rubi and then LEAVE IT ALONE because it's the best 'wheeling rig out there? $40K just get's 'em started.... they dump thousands into 'em after buying 'em.

Jeep shifting production to china would suck, but as most info we've read so far leads towards them not shifting complete production there, thank god.

I am not in the market to buy a new Jeep, love the old ones! If I were considering purchasing something newer it would definitely be the LJ. New Jeeps suck.
