Man, that must've been some tall grass if the guy burned his arm while getting out of the Jeep...

cut and pasted below...

CHULA VISTA — A brush fire that burned about 10 acres in Eastlake Thursday night apparently started when a new Jeep Wrangler was being test-driven illegally in the hilly open-space area, and a passenger in the vehicle was burned, a fire official said.
The fire was reported at 5:46 p.m. at the corner of Eastlake and Hunte parkways, said Chula Vista Fire Deputy Chief Jim Garcia. It was knocked down about 7:08 p.m.
A man reported that he was driving a 2011 Wrangler that was about two months old in the area, which does not have roads, Garcia said. The driver said the vehicle’s catalytic converter may have started the grass on fire.
While getting out of the Jeep, the lone passenger suffered burns on his arm from the burning grass, Garcia said. He was taken to a hospital. The driver was not injured.
The fire did not threaten any homes, but it burned up to the parking lot of High Tech High on Discovery Falls Drive, Garcia said.
About 32 firefighters responded. Chula Vista firefighters were assisted by firefighters and a helicopter crew from San Diego. The helicopter made about 15 water drops, getting water from Otay Lakes. The drops were “a great assistance,” Garcia said.
The blaze was in light brush that had been cut back this season, but with an 8 mph west wind, the blaze “was moving pretty good,” Garcia said.
The charred Jeep has been impounded, and the fire is under investigation. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, authorities could seek recovery of the costs of fighting the blaze from the vehicle’s owner, Garcia said.

I hope the guy gets roasted for it. No pun intended. Driving illegally in apparently rather tall grass and he starts a fire? Wonderful.

I hope this guy doesn't like strip clubs, cause he isn't gonna see any for a while!

Seriously, it is idiots like this that are ultimately ruining our hobby. Driving drunk, driving in tall, dead weeds that are off the designated trail or nowhere near one, driving with no belts on, driving too fast, etcetera.
Of course the CAT started it. The surface of those suckers is anywhere from about 600º to 1700º - well in the range to light dead weeds on fire. If it were the caveman days this guy wouldn’t have survived past six.
