i ordered the stage 2 sliders for mine tuesday ,
after seeing the fit and finish of their front and rear bumpers on my xj ,
i have no doubt these will be just as heavy duty ( indestructible ) .

if anybody else wants to buy some i have some stage 1 sliders sitting in my garage. I bought them in the summer and never got a chance to put them on before going to college and i dont have my jeep up there so i never get a chance to work on it. i decided that instead of putting those on i am jsut gonna replace my rockers with something stronger than the stock ones so i still have all the clearance

You need the strength of the pinch seam, and also you might as well order a patch panel THEN install the rocker guard, unless its a total beater you plan on running into the ground and could care less about rust or it spreading. If you do want to fix the rust youll just have to take the rock rail off again and put on a second time.

when you think about it, most of the support comes from the bolts on the pinch seam, NOT the unibody rail. so being held in with self tappers really isnt an issue IMO
