My Jarhead son, Jesse, is back in town. He completed his second tour in Iraq in November (which had been extended from 6 months to 9 months). He is now getting ready to go back overseas for 3 years for embassy duty. We are extremely proud and happy with his service and dedication to the Marines. Had he not gotten the embassy gig he would be going to Afghanistan in the spring. (I could rant about our CinC but this thread is about Jesse.) So if you see and dark '95 XJ with Marine plates on it and a 33 inch tire on the back bumper give him a honk and wave.
The good news for me is that he is leaving me his '95 XJ which he has just finished building up. It has a nice 8 inch lift, trimmed fenders with bushwacker flares, new rear bumper with tire carrier, 33 inch tires with new rims (fake bead lockers), new exhaust. Scavenged from Norbert the Wonder Jeep (RIP, old 4 banger, Tom would remember it)) a super 35 axle with Detroit locker, 4.56 gearing front and rear and a nice hand built front bumper. Pictures to come as soon as I can get home from work when it is still light. Now I can convert Takatoka into a trailer queen.
