My heat went out (brrrr) and would like to get a professional opinion.

Does anyone know someone who is a licensed HVAC person around the Clarksville-ish area? Need to get this resolved ASAP.

Gotcha back...

Dang. I already left a message with a place my mom used.

It was 54*F in my house this morning, except the bedroom.

i have several space heaters you can use! my heat was out last year, and my landlord took all winter to fix it, then the a/c didn't work when it got hot outside....

i have a buddy here in murfreesboro that does that stuff and needs some work. he'd be willing to travel, and he does a great job. here is his number:
615-947-0966
his name is shawn tanner, and he's a good dude that will hook you up for the cheap. tell him eric gave you his number. if he doesn't answer leave a message. service is spotty at his house, but he'll call ya back!

Cool, thanks. If I can't get any decent resolution around here, I may give him a call.

I also scored some space heaters, so only parts of the house are cold.

Alpha,

Have you taken a look at the furnace? I don't want to sound obvious, nor do i think you are ignorant, but here are some basics:

See if the pilot light went out?

If that isn't the problem, with the older furnaces (again, my experience is only my own ~13 yr old furnace), my first guess would be the ignitor. grab your voltmeter and see if it has continuity and if it doesn't, that might be it.

I wish you the best, and i hope any of my limited knowledge base can help!!!!

I have an electronic pilot.

The pilot will light, but it instantly kills the heat because the limit switch trips.

FrankZ says it's an airflow problem; but I could find no plugs in the system. There is a large amount of rust inside the main panel and I'm sure that inside the heat exchanger is much more rusty.

Heater quits working...

I know it's different but it's kinda the same. Mine went out on the hot water heater and we had no hot water for a few days. (gas hot water heater) When they go bad, the pillot light will not stay lit.
