Is this bad?

Bad? It's totaled. Seriously, you need to part it out and start over.

'Give you a dollar for the lights. :D

I heard from the shop that the housing was not a Currie unit. And it broke where it had been heated to straighten it after the December race. Just what I heard today, since i wouldn't think Currie would of done that.

Still want to see the pics after the repair.

The upper mounts look like ours.. We sell these housings with the idea of customers adding to them. It should have a truss across the bottom that goes from c to c Thats how Currie would do it if the customer wanted to pay for it. We do have a couple guys running our new 3.5 inch Chromolly 2wd beam with no bottom truss. I have had my 2wd beam on my JS for 4 years with no bending issues. It has a full truss.

It was a Currie. We chose to run untrussed - against Currie's advice - to save weight. We ran the first housing for more than 3 seasons without an issue but the class was a lot slower back then. We screwed up with the way we trussed it after it bent (misspoke in an earlier post about them adding the truss). It was totally our fault and had nothing to do with Currie's quality.

The replacement will be one of the 3.5" that Chris just mentioned. They are a beautiful thing. We just picked up a nice high-pinion 44 pumpkin that is headed to Currie to build us a new 4wd housing for the Mint.

what sort of noise does that make????? did the springs cross the finish line a few hours before the rest of the jeep? :D

Actually, there really wasn't any sound at all. What I remember was a really soft landing then it felt like someone threw out an anchor. It stopped us so fast that I think my eyeballs hit the inside of my visor.

Per your request...ugly cobbled-together stick welds. It isn't pretty but it stuck together for 150 miles to get us a finish.

pretty isn't what counts, finishing is  I love the quick fixes, its good to know you can rely on what you have on hand at the moment.

I had a d35 axle twist off going down the highway from the bearings taking a dump and getting it red+ hot. It was like a bang-skid....... (rear disc caliper kept the tire from smashing the quarter panel and flying off and killing someone). I was in the process of downshifting into 3rd when bang! "Wtf, lost 3rd? no, ok blown tire, shit why am I sliding? Oh......
