ok...
Now you're definately banned from Meatfest forever...
I remember carding Billy's whiney lil ass at Smart Bar.
Billy Corgan whether you like him or not is a very talented musician and song writer not just in the volume the Pumpkins have put out, but also in the diversity of their music from heavy to mellow, and his helping of other bands with their stuff. He is a muscical icon and I hope the rumors of the Pumpkins reuniting is true, I will definately go to see them.
On the Gigantour concert:
It was very good, I missed the 4 small bands in the beginning, but saw and liked Over Kill, then Opeth came on and were awesome. Indy, you were right the singer's range is amazing. I like how they can get heavy with the primal grunt singing and the crowd goes wild, to then singing very melodic and backing it up with good guitar playing. I'll definately check them out now that I've seen them in person.
Lamb of God was just pure energy, but I didn't understand a word the singer said, it was all in the deep primal grunt style, even when he introduced the names of the songs, I'm like come on this isn't WWF dude!!!!!
I liked their energy, but walked out a bit, because I had the distinct feeling they are pretty Satanic. Their name also has an upside down cross in it and don't know if they mean they are sacrificing the Lamb of God to Satan or something. The lead singer is the shaven headed skinny kid with 3 hard core long heared, unshaven guitarist going absolutely nuts for for like 1-1/2 hrs. I really don't like music I cannot come close to hearing what the singer is saying, it's just down right annoying. Kurt Cobain did this on occasion, but you could understand his stuff, this primal grunt singing is good for moshing no doubt, but that's about it. Not my thing. I did like Opeth because the singer would back it up with good melodic singing and was just plain funny. He was like, "Sorry I'm such a Pu$$.., but this song isn't that hard....his Swedish acent was also cool.
Over Kill was good and the singer had amazing energy as well. I saw about 1/2 their stuff, I really wish I got to the concert sooner and saw the earlier bands, but I'm happy I caught Over Kill, Opeth, a little of Lamb of God, and obviously Megadeth. I drove almost 4 hours total (200 or so miles from Sacramento) and felt it was worth it. Parking was $20 which is a huge ripe off, but what can you do.
Thanks again guys for the heads up on Opeth, they are really good. Now if only I could see System of a Down live as well as Metallica, right when I get into them they are taking a few years hiadus (SOAD). :dunno: They did come out with 2 great albums in under a year and then who knows. Reminds me a Metallica after the Black album and Sublime (putting out their breakthrough album, but Brad died and they cannot do live shows etc).
