Interior Cages

Now, if Tyler would come down here, pick up my junk on a trailer, take it back to his shop and build the cage, chop the top and the back just like I want it for less than $1500 we've got a deal. :) I'll even come get it and bring it home.
 
search about those cages. been told that its better then nothing, but still not worth the money. you could have a real cage built for that

I could def do the work for that, but... there is just no way I could get it down here on that budget too.

The problem with "kits" is that they are built with plenty of extra space in mind so that they will fit guaranteed. This can sometimes lead to a cage that wastes space, and really doesn't "fit" at all. I also noticed 2 things about the 2nd one posted from S&W: .083 wall tubing, and there is no difference between the 97 up and 96 down. This means that it probably isn't going to fit correctly, and I personally wouldn't trust .083 wall tubing to save my life, but that's just me.

If I HAD to buy a pre made cage, I would do the one from Rock Hard, but be sure to get the correct year.

One more thing to think about... those cages don't install themselves... bring it to me, and it rolls out ready to wheel, painted, installed, done! :guitar:
 
Sooo, how much for a hybrid cage? External halo and a-pillar and internal everything else. :) I think I might be able to bring it to you if the price is right.
 
I can't weld but I can drill. That's why i liked the Rock Hard kit. I just don't like the cost. EOR is literally 7 mins from me but they aren't very cheap either.

FWIW i wouldn't trust my noggin to a bolted in cage.... you want my advice just have someone do it, you can get a basic cage for a comparable price from a good fabricator AND they will work with you to make sure it fits you, which is important for an interior cage.

FYI that .083 tubing is chrome moly...probably why it is thinner.

They also sell a 120 wall DOM version, for the same amount.

That being said...i have never heard of them before nor do i have any experience with cage kits.

Mine is custom made, and has everything i need. do lots of research before u decide...ask people what they think about their cages, etc...
 
I just installed the Rockhard cage. It is a "Sport cage". your not going to just flip the jeep back over like a hybrid and go wheeling you will get some damage but you will not be crushed. The fit was really nice and it went in pretty easy. If you get one do yourself a favor and buy a good set of ball end allen wrenches and one that will fit on the end of a 1/8" drive ratchet so you can use a swivel as all the clamps are allen cap head bolts. the cage is designed to go over the carpet but i wanted to mount it right to the floor. this put it a bit low. I call RockHard and they sne tme backer plates to use as spacers for free and i had themm in two days. I was pretty impressed with the service. Pm me if you have any questions.

Speaking of which, after I get back from Cali, plan a weekend and you need to come up and let me finish the inside... I owe it to you, remember. All you gotta do is pay for the material which wont be much.

Ah... didn't notice that it was chromemoly, but thats not any good unless you can TIG. But the .120 wall DOM would be a good alternative.

Well said on the benefits of a custom cage!

Heck yeah. I see it now.

The only thing I would want different from yours is I would want to Halo to only go back to the c pillar since I plan to chop the top off the back and dove tail it before I die.
