Input needed on trans swap ideas

If you can afford the deep gearing of an atlas, manual all the way, but with stock or moderate gearing manuals are a pita offroad. And the previous comment about a th400 or 350, yes they are super strong, but with no overdrive, I wouldn't make that backward step. The aw4 is a great trans for a 4l jeep. The only reason I'd go with a different tranny would be in conjunction with an engine swap.

How easy is an AW4 to rebuild, beside lock ring pliers, are there any other spcialty tools that are a must have for something like this?
