Um...... damn! Truss/link mount welds at the axle and the pinion yoke didn't fare too well.... how 'bout the air shocks? Did ya bend or break the ends?

There's gotta be an interesting story about how you got it off the trail.....

Which brings to mind that there's a certain west-coaster So-Cal dude out there that won a particular piece of portable welding equipment at an event that woulda come in REAL handy for someone who coulda been USING it instead of dusting it off like a trophy......

And no, I'm not bitter...... :D

But I digress.... Do tell us a story Led!

I'll bet it was from driver abuse. :D
What obstacle did it die on?

Looks like one of the air shocks bit it too. They don't like it when the pinnion rotates too much. ;)

i see a lot of people do their upper link truss with just a single tube like that, and I don't know how they expect it to last. not only is there not much weld surface, but with the tube just on one plane it makes for a ton of leverage at the base. I put large gussets on the side of mine for additional weld surface and the middle leg is on a seperate plane (and with an additional little fin) to make a sort of tri-pod:

nice carnage though, let us know how the air shocks fare.

It was on the exit, it gave up just as the fronts cleared the last ledge :smsoap: with a little bump, so damn close. getting it off the trail took bout 2 minutes just hooked up the winch and drove, just enough metal holding it on to keep it from beeing a real problem. The ends of the air shocks are toast, got them ordered today for aroud 50 for every thing. Gussets on the truss have been on my list of things to do since we built it 3 years ago. it sheared the tube the welds held, plan for now is just weld the tube back together and gusset the shit out of it. This will be the last season on the 30/44 as my driving style?? is getting to be a bit much for them.

It made one hell of a noise when it went.

Led: "That sounded like a rear driveshaft"
Me: " Uh, dude your pinion is pointing straight up"
Led: " Guess I better get out and take a look"

:D
