Indian Larry, a master motorcycle mechanic and stunt man, passed away this morning following an accident while performing Saturday at the Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series show at Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord. He was best known for his appearances on Discovery Channel's "Great Biker Build-Off" show.

"He was riding and standing up on his seat," said Mike Downs, Cabarrus County deputy county manager. "The bike started to wobble and he was not able to regain control."

Indian Larry fell off the bike before a crowd of about 8,000. He was not wearing a helmet. Paramedics were standing by and aided him until he could be airlifted to CMC, Downs said.

He died like he lived. And he died doing what he loved. :worship:

Didn't he just say that in the last Discovery show, something about dying while on a bike.

Too bad he built some nice stuff!

I'm gonna show up at the next naxja event with a full race suit on and the baddest ass helmet money can buy.

Anyone who makes a smart-ass remark about it, will get smacked in the face, on the principle of your hypocracy.

the guy was performing a stunt. he knew the risks.

no one would have taken a toughguy biker seriously otherwise.

I see lots of stunt bikers wearing full race suits and helmets, and people seem to take them all seriously. :D

I'll be first in line to make fun of you. Also a cage makes you a p****y. :D Do we need to bring up some old cage threads?

I'll agree on that point. It should be up to the person if they want to risk bashing their head in, die of lung cancer, what ever. I always wear a helmet on a bike though. As many times as I've slapped my noggin I would be brain dead instead of just a complete retard.

I've broke 2. Just the face guard off of one and the other split over the ear area while trying to pile drive my way to China. I buy the most expensive Shoei's and then pretty them up with a fancy paint job to look cool.

I got an AGV kevlar helmet laying around that's got some severe gouging and cracking from an idiot in a little mgb merging onto lake shore drive at belmont without looking...
Still have and wear the leather I was wearing that day....
Do I wear a helmet 100% of the time? no
Do I enjoy having the liberty to leave it at home and taking the risks?

Wouldn't have it any other way....

Indian Larry was a grown man who knew the risks and rode on the edge...

What's truly sad is that Indian Larry died and Gary Busse lived

lets not bring the whole helmet debate over here. I wasn't trying to restart any of that...:) This is about a man who died in the midst of a stunt, and that is sad, not something for us to argue over...:( I was just wondering if it may have helped

thank you....

legalize personal freedom!

in this country you should be allowed to die doing what you love, exactly the way you love it, without being discredited by the living.

thread hijack:

It's not really a helmet debate as much as it is a debate over exercising your own freedom to participate in dangerous activities...

look at offroading... It can be dangerous and even deadly, but there will always be someone saying "Maybe if he'd had a cage, he'd be alive" or "If he'd used DOM instead of pipe" or even "Maybe if he used more triangles"
Ther will always be a "what if" for any given situation...

point is: it's your choice, be it right or wrong, wise or foolish

I didn't even know there was an argument going on. Where's it at? :D

I guess I just felt the need to state my personal preference.

Indian Larry will never die completely.
