I'm back with reliable wheels ...

PA Highlander

NAXJA Forum User
Yep, finally bought a "new" daily driver to replace the Highlander XJ. I picked up a 2000 F-150 SuperCab Flareside ... real nice truck, has the 4.6L Triton V8 and an automatic trans (price was right too!). It should do nicely as a daily driver and tow rig for the MJ. Yes, that's right I will be building up the MJ and wheeling it. Look for it to have around 6" of lift and the 33's from the Highlander ... and either a 5.7L or 4.3L Chevy engine and drivetrain. :viking:

I still have no settlement at all from the wreck that took out the Highlander. My attorney is currently finding me an attorney in RI to handle the case as everything will need filed in RI - due to the accident being in RI and the other party being a RI resident. This will probably drag out for months.

Here's the new rig:

And here's the future project rig:

Thanks for the compliment! It is a nice riding truck, hope it will tow as nice ... the trailer brake controller will be in within a week or so!

I hope to get an attorney in RI real soon to make sure I don't get f'ed. It's over a month and a half since the wreck and I'm still going to physical therapy for my neck! They say it could be a while longer too ... right now I'm not even allowed to lift a computer tower, let alone do any firefighting.

After the wife and I were rear ended in Florida 4+ years ago we just settled it at the end of Nov 2003. Do NOT sign off on anything, document EVERYTHING, be aware that the lawyer is going to take about 35% of any settlement you get so ramp your settlement accordingly. A warning, your local doctor will testify at your hearing but be aware that he is probably going to charge anywhere from 5-10THOUSAND dollars to do so plus travel. Our expert witness bill was around $50,000 or so. I felt the 'warm and fuzzys' that they were all willing to travel to florida and testify in our behalf, then I found out $why$.... Good luck... If it had happended in florida I could give you the name of a really good lawyer down there :D

the new DD looks nice

What a pain in the a.. about the long time for settlement. I also wish you good luck. I've never been in an accident like you had, and hope I never will, after all the horror stories I hear and read about.
Glad you have the MJ running and going to guild it up.
Good luck

Hey Rich,

I was sure not to sign anything ... and I have all the documents related, plus notes on phone conversations. I sure hope I can resolve this in under 4 years! Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get them to release my XJ so I can strip all the aftermarket goodies. I've left two messages that have went unanswered so far. Hopefully I get a lawyer secured soon and get them working on this mess.

Yep ... major PITA. I think I need all the luck I can get - thanks! :helpme:

I got the MJ running so well my buddy has made me an offer I can't refuse, so I'm in the process of selling it to him. He's going to be wheeling it too. I want a bit shorter wheelbase to wheel. Looking at a few CJ-2A's, a CJ-7, and an XJ ... whatever I can get cheap will be the next project. I will get a trailer this time so I don't have to drive my wheeling rig unless I want to.

Go check out BMJA's for sale forum site, there is one really sweet john deere green flat fender that is flat out georgeous. The pic looks like it's a tonka toy on steroids but it sure is sweet. Lets see if this works.
