If you believe what AZ is doing is right,

Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked," she wrote.

Then they shouldn't have been doing whatever they were doing to get stopped in the first place!

They are just getting stopped because they look Mexican!

Got any proof to back this statement up?

Let's shift the perpective. A serial child predator is known to be operating in Clarksville, TN. No one has made a physical ID yet, but they know that he drives a Jeep Cherokee.
You are driving home from work in your XJ and get stopped a block from your house by the local LEO. You produce DL and registration, Officer Friendly thanks you for your time and sends you on your way.

You feel safer knowing that the local LEO's are actively searching for a felon that needs to be captured and tried for his actions.

Expain to me how the existing Federal Immigration Law that Arizona is enforcing is different than this and bad for legal, US Citizens?

My son inlaw is always going to AZ..They pulled him over..OH wait he was speeding..So i guess you're right..He is a MEXICAN..I have never been pulled over in AZ, but i'm white..:kissyou:

Looks like an AZ judge blocked parts of the new bill that was supposed to go into effect.

From the article: The injunction hands a major victory to the Obama administration and opponents of a tough crackdown on illegal immigration, analysts say.

WTF? Good job, everybody, in preventing a crack down on people breaking the law!

They are just getting stopped because they look Mexican!
Ease up fellas, I do believe his last statement was sarcasm...:D

FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY
OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE, WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c).
The first paragraph of the bill. Sounds cut and dry. There needs to first be a lawful reason for stopping the person. Then they shall make a reasonable effort to verify the person's status in this country through the Federal gov't, pursuant to US law, only if there is a reaosnable suspicion that they are here illegally. That could be anything from lack of ID, non-English speaker (since learning English is part of the citizenship exam), etc etc.

Agree. There is nothing wrong with AZ1070 other than it goes against the Obama/Holder/JOHN MORTON/Reid/Pelosi Amnesty and Open Borders policy.

Sheriff Joe has a bounty on his head......proof that AZ is doing something right.

Here's how the past and our current Admin is dealing with illegal immigrants:

The Virginia man suspected in a drunken-driving crash that killed a Catholic nun in Prince William County this weekend is an illegal immigrant and repeat offender who was awaiting deportation and who federal immigration authorities had released pending further proceedings, police said Monday.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/aug/2/illegal-immigrant-killed-nun-released-by-feds/

Side note...anyone else key in on this? Virginia Man? In order for him to be a "Virginia" man, he would need to be a legal US Resident, living in Virginia.

He is an illegal Mexican National with multiple DUI convictions, whom ICE has failed to deport.

Any more questions on why Arizona passed their own illegal immigration law, which mirrors the Federal law that is not being enforced?

Man, if people hate the US so much and disagree with it on all levels, why not just move to Europe where their socialist bs is already in place?

"Florida will not be a sanctuary state for illegal aliens," McCollum, who was accompanied by state Representative Will Synder, said in a statement that also gave details of the proposed law.

The legislation would require law enforcement officials to check a suspected illegal immigrant's status in the course of a stop, or a violation of another law.

This goes beyond the existing situation in the state where officers are allowed to check for immigration status, but not required to.
Florida, especially its southern portion, is a major U.S. migration destination for nationals from the Caribbean and Latin America, making it a cultural and racial melting-pot.

Just saw that.

They also note that they have worked to make the Florida law more lawsuit-proof :yelclap:

I wonder if Obama will go about suing every state that adds this law...

Makes perfect sense to me.......sue the states in effort to avoid enforcing the existing immigration laws, at the expense of the taxpayers who want you simply enforce and uphold the existing immigration laws.
