alright so i was going to do a stroker kit since i seem to be getting a slight rod knock but then i saw the prices of the kits and about pissed my self...ive heard that you can drop in a 4.2 out of an earlier jeep and use the 4.0 head and cam shaft to make a mild stroker...not sure how true this is...anybody tried this?

Its not that simple. If you want it to last a small number of miles then just swap parts. However to do it properly you would need bearings, machine work, deck the block, etc. Pretty much the same as a rebuild and wouldn't cost much more than a standard 4.0L rebuild. And there are cheap ways and expensive ways to do it.

Have a look at jeepstrokers.com

Honestly, in my experience with people and similar questions, you're probably better off getting a motor from the junkyard, and getting a valve job w/ new seals, and put new seals in the WHOLE engine. Buy rebuilt injectors off ebay, do a full tuneup, Add a qt of atf to the oil, run it for 30 mins, change the oil and filter again.
Now youll have a nice reliable engine assuming it had no mechanical damage before you got it. If you want get a bored throttle body, header, and a muffler of your choice. (I recomend spintech).

im planning on doing a full rebuild...i just was wondering what kind of compression i would get swappin parts over and what kind of power....need to rebuild my engine anyways why not throw a few cheap parts in to it....

also....already have exhaust, cold air, rebuilt flow matched injectors, 64mm throttle body, 64mm spacer, and electric fans

...about to do the 99+ intake mani also whenever i do the rebuild
