I leave town for a weekend...

I have to say I can't ID either car becuase I am still holding to my full boycott of any fast and furiuos type of movie. I have not, and will not watch any of them. I am now going to retreat to my living room were I am going to watch a remastered copy of Le Mans in full surround sound glory. Now that is a great car movie. ( I know your with me IXNAY:) )

Those cars are awesome. I would really like to see and hear one in person some day. I don't think Americans appreciate that kind of racing enough. Turning left for 3 hours with cars running 60's technology is more our style (insert rolling eyes smily here).

Dude, you're so right. I was never an F1 fan until I saw them up close for the first time. In the two years since then, I've watched almost every race live...which typically means staying up 'til 3 a.m. That's dedication!

The car in the videos is the 2006 Toyota F106...not even a competitive car (although they spend half a billion dollars annually on their F1 program, the largest in the sport) driven by their test-driver. All that being said, it crushed the track record at Lagua Seca all three days, lowering it every time.

The sound is truly amazing, too...19,500 RPM is a beautiful thing to behold. :D

I never really paid much attention to that style of racing either...until recently. A few months ago, myself and PoSxJ got to work security at the CART races at PIR. It sheds a whole new light on racing when you can actually feel the cars blowing past you. The cars racing weren't even the newest models either. Being security, we had full, unrestricted access to the track. At one point, we mistakenly rode ONTO the track. Luckily, they were at a break between races. That could've been really embarrassing! :D

What's up with fart can hangin out of the back of the Mustang.

If you haven't seen the latest Fast and Furious movie yet (DON'T!), then consider yourself lucky. They take that beautiful Mustang and drop an import engine into it, then use it for drifting. I say "import engine" because I know nothing about those (japanese, chinese, anything ending with an "-ese") type of cars and/or their engines. It was a sad, sad day when they produced that movie.
