I leave town for a weekend...

Dodge Omni GLH. "Goes Like Hell...."

From wikipedia:

"The ultimate Dodge Omni was the Carroll Shelby-modified Omni GLH. 1984 was the first year of the GLH, which carried over most of the modifications that had been made the previous year to the Shelby Charger. 1985 was the debut of the real Goes Like Hell model with the turbocharged Turbo I engine option. The car carried over into 1986 unchanged and production was stopped. The final 500 GLH cars were sold to Shelby, who used them as the basis for the 1986 Shelby GLHS."

my dream

"the go cart from hell"

flat black omni, black tinted windows, rear window louvers, glhs front bumper, blacked out markers and tails, black powdercoated srt4 wheels, SLAMMED, full stage 3 srt4 turbo drivetrain, remove interior, race buckets, cage, aluminum panels,
and ummmmm.....suspension.(i know torsion bar mopars and jeeps, thats it) so what, like neon coilovers, sways, and minivan brakes?

so like 5 grand into the car and the only cars you would have to worry about would be vipers.

actually, its a co-dream that me and my bro Matt the Hutt came up with when he bought a $50 omni. its was loosely based on the concepts for "the minivan of fury" (Hutt's ride) but it all came to a crashing halt when the omni did what all $50 cars do, seize the motor and get abandond on the side of the road. hutt's glad he never transfered the title.

I refuse to allow this thread to go from old foreign muscle and shelbys to Omnis. Maybe some american muscle? Nobody needs reply to this picture, we all know everyone loves them. 1966 Chevelle. It was that or the 69. Do not argue the 1970. I know it came with the 454. Just oogle the picture like I do and stop talking about Omnis. You're welcome Matt!

DAMN! I actually started on google with "69 Chevelle Yenko" then realized I like the 66s a little more. yenko didnt exist then along with the Camaros so I went without. Nice recovery though : )

4 door rabbits? Do they at least have the VR6?

Rabbits never came with the VR6. Although I have seen a few with them shoe horned in them. But I prefer the G60 motor from the earlier Corrado in the rabbit (early body style), easier to fit and I prefer the supercharger (with mods of course:).

The Omni is probably the best stock sleeper in it's class though.

While were on the subject of turbo hot hatchs, Why dont we throw up some pics of Cossie Escorts, or some Merkur XR4TI's? The Cosworths were rippin fast and the XR4TI's could be made so, those thing have a cult like following. Worse than jeep owners:D

At least the XR4ti is RWD. That's my complaint with the Corrado/Rabbit/Omni et al.

This is the second one I have owned. My cousin has had three, including mine and another cousin has an 89 CSX-VNT for sale. If you have to drive to work, might as well enjoy the drive.

Ok, here we go. Wasn't into taking pics of the many Bentleys', Rolls', and Ferraris we passed, but here are a couple shots I found interesting:

Where are these shops? Who are the owners?

Might take some time to load the pics, I have exceeded my hourly bandwidth

All my high school buddies fell in love with the rabbits, GTIs, Corrados and Rabbit trucks, even fastbacks and Volvo with turbos....man I hate those guys. They swapped around all the engines blah blah blah. I still like doing 140+ in my 35" tired Chevy daily driver. Man I hate volkswagon. I need a Chevelle after my Jeep is done. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ALL amercian muscle, my other choice before I got my truck was a Prelude....wierd combo huh?

The orange 'Cuda is from the second fast and furious movie. What's up with fart can hangin out of the back of the Mustang. That's just plain wrong!

That picture of the gate...maybe belongs to Jesse James. Just a guess.
