...and you guys get the Tardwars '06 Championship?!?!? He did get one thing right, though. Michael: You are such a wannabe!

So while the feathers were flying here, I was at Laguna Seca for the 33rd Annual Rolex Monterey Historics. Here's a preview:

From the hill:

The Corkscrew:

More Corkscrew:

A '65 Cobra that had a little 'incident' during the race. Note the hole exiting the valve cover...ouch!

More to come later.

Nothing like Monteray in August, I'm insanley jealous.last time I went was in '98 when Porsche was the featured marque. Met Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld at Pebble Beach, but that wasnt half as great as watching all the 962's, 907's and of course Moby dick screamin through the corkscrew. oh memorys

Very nice Matt. I love that track. One, if not the best thier is.

Where did the pushrod go? :D
Yeah, I love Laguna. Lots of fun dropping down the corkscrew. Three stories in the blink of an eye; over the top, can't see the track, aim where it should be, and dial in throttle. I think the pushrod is still in orbit. :D

That was my first year attending. I'm a HUGE 917 fan! Notice the Jacket? ;) This was at the Gooding auction at Pebble Beach. Cohiba and Woodford Reverve. Ahhhhh....

One of my close family friends is the Chief Steward for the event (in charge of all the SCCA workers, etc...), so we get all the cool hook-ups...just makes it all that much more fun. Perfect weather this year too.

They set a new absolute track record during one of the exhibition sessions, too. I got to meet the driver (Ricardo Zonta, Toyota F1's Friday Test Driver) at the awards cocktail party on Sunday. Here's a pic of him smashing the old record (new one is 1.06.939 IIRC):

The LONG hike up the hill to the back side of the track:

Again, more to come.

Nice M1. P.B. Was cool, it was a trip to see all these Lambo's, Bentlys and such parked half in a ditch on the side of 17 mile drive. I heard tix are like 140+ to get in now, thats kinda lame. My dad and I went in 98 as my high school graduation trip. At the time I was driving an 87 325is with Dinan chip, stage 4 suspension, exhaust and intake ( had to sell, too many tickets!!!). We road tripped down there on and off of hwy 1, took a tour of Dinan in Mt View then hit Laguna Seca. Oh and by the way that is a seriosly bad ass jacket. I'll have to get out on the trail with you and we can compare pictures

I B.S.'d my way onto 17 mile drive (where I proceded to haul ass...and get a video) and then snuck into the auction through the service entrance and through a flap in the tent. :D Tickets are a lot more, and you have to qualify as a bidder (certifiable assets, etc...) to get into the area I was at Gooding. Lots of fun!

I talked to the Dinan guys a bunch while I was down there, 'cause they're discontinuing a bunch of stuff for my car. My last M3 had their Stage 1 chip and I was really impressed. When I go into get the Insp. II service for my new one, I'll have them do it again, and probably the intake and exhaust at the same time. W/o the limiter, it'll be good for 174 mph. :)

BTW, Bobby Rahal was driving the M1 for BMW all weekend. Sure was fun to watch, even if he didn't win. Now that's a straight six:

I was considering something similar, taking the M20 6cyl, out of an e30 and putting the demon tweeks triple Weber kit on it and then dumping it in a 1600, or 2002,
ever seen the F1600? BMWCCA member out of texas takes drivetrain out of M6 and puts in 1600 very cool, but I bet a bear to handle.

We all did, group of uptight Adam Henrys we are.

I can't get in to the Den. Never tried in the past.
So how do I get password to get in?

Don't sweat it Michael. He has a frame now.

I don't know what the fawk his problem is now. Oh well. Its not like were missing out on anything. :dunno:

Oh well. Its not like were missing out on anything.

Sure we are!!!
If we all had frames then we could install 9 inch body lifts and run 38's with stock suspension on our d30/35's with 3.55's and no SYE's. It would be sooooo much easier:confused1

Hey....... Now THAT is a good idea:) That would be pretty cheap wouldn't it:)

Not sweating it, just wish I could have read it for a good laugh!!

Michael

It was in and out fast, not many got to see it.
