Long story short I was pulling some parts of a ZJ & left my hammer two rows over, literally ran to get it, came back to all my tools being stolen & no one in sight. This happened at the new ringgold yard. I know its my fault for leaving the tools unattended, but it was for literally less than 60 seconds. I thought I lost my mind & that I was working there on that jeep and ran around in circles for I dont know how long. I stood at the exit for like a hour waiting to see if someone had my shit, no such luck.

Then later on in the day I had a parking curb drop on my toe & I think its fractured or badly smoooshed. I wish I went to the damn trail cutting, but I am having my 4.56's installed next week so Ill be ready for next time.

That sucks... I would have been searching tool bags as people left. Did you have a big bag of tools? What did you loose?

I had a little bag and left my tool box in the truck, just some basic sockets, but I lost a complet metric set of craftsman wrenches which is the biggest bummer.

That sucks. That sort of thing is why I don't let anyone at the junkyard borrow my tools. Last time I was there, I ran into a guy who came to pull an alternator and hadn't brought any tools. No, you can't borrow mine.

Wow, that sucks... I'm pretty sure some guy tried to steal my stuff while I was pulling an e-brake assembly off a ZJ last weekend, but he tripped on the quarterpanel I had sitting next to my toolbag and I stuck my head out so he left in a hurry. I had my toolbag a car or two over like you, got lucky I guess... never letting it out of my sight again. Hope you find the bastard next time and steal your tools back.

I have lent tools to people, but I do it based on gut feeling... if the person seems fairly honest and is working a few cars down from me, no problem, but if they seem really sketchy and are just wandering around trying to borrow tools no way.

That sucks, I have let a few people borrow tools at Shorty and Dave's. I usaully go with my brother and I will go with the guy while he uses it or I have said gove me $20 bill and when you bring back my $5 tool, I'll give you your $20 back. Where are you in Blue Bell, that's where I grew up, back in the "Greens".

Sorry to hear about your tools. I let a friend borrow my brand new 60" Hi-Lift a few years ago, and same thing, it was out of his sight for just a few moments holding up a car and it was gone when he returned. Looking back on it, I figure if the thieves were fast enough to actually make a Hi-Lift WORK, got it out from under the car, and got away without being seen all within a minute or so, they probably deserved the damn thing for being "Fastest Hi-Lifters of the Year!"

Yeah I always panic about this kind of thing happening to me.

If my tools aren't in my direct line of sight I can't work without being in a constant state of worry.

Sorry to hear man.

Ive seen shady folks eyeing tools before at S&Ds. I dont trust anyone that I see in that yard...or any yard. I generally have another tool hidden on my person just in case. Too many messed up folks. Plus I watch the news at night..which never helps with paranoia.

Sorry to hear about your tools man. You should take another tool bag, but put snakes in it, and leave it sit around. Snakes or stink bombs or something. F thieves.

J.

Never had that happen to me around here. I left my toolbox next to a Sebring once. I had just pulled the sunroof assembly off of it for the Eclipse. There was no way in hell I would have been able to carry that with my 40lb box. Plus the gauge cluster. Looking back at it, I probably should have took the box first.

Hey Chris.>Sorry to hear about your latest run to the JY. Yeah, you have to be careful around there. WHen I read the post title, I actually thought you were robbed at gunpoint or something like that. At least all they did was take a few tools..Still stinks..AZ has some great tools..Stop by.. ;-)

haha yeah I was shocked man. So moral of the story is people are not honest, you cant trust anyone & there are some shady folk at the yard sometimes. I didnt even get to pull anything. Keep your eyes on your stuff, turn your back for a second and it could be gone quick.

I wish aids on the person that snagged it, but what goes around comes around I hope!

thats why I always have an eye on my sit like when I was at the jy sunday I was even touching it most of the time cause a guy was eyeing them up!!!

x3 on the Shady Charectars at Shorty's U Pull it in Upper Merion. I literally caught a mexican guy with a hand outreaching to pick up my toolbox while i was behind the rear of a jeep 6 feet away, he claimed in broken english he was "sorry and thought it was empty" Yeah right, I woulda loved to have him with it in hand and his back turned to me. I later asked the giant Fat white guy who runs the door what would his position be on calling the police etc, if I had that happen and took care of it myself behind some car. His response "I didn't see anything" Otherwise its a great yard, very cheap and good turnover usually....

amazing how many scumbags there are out there, get a job and buy your own tools like the rest of us.

That's why I always have my SiG P220 with me...Fookin scumbags. Man rule #1: Do NOT mess with another man's car. #2: Do NOT touch the tools without asking!!

when i first got my jeep about a year and half ago me and two friends were pulling shafts and bearings out of a 98 and i had my whole three drawer craftsman 200 and what ever piece tool (not even a week old)set with us(pulled alot of stuff that day) and i guy i knew through a friend of a friend as pulling a push bar off of a near by explorer and asked me for a had real quick. so went ot help him for about 5 minutes and left my box with my two friends. when i came back i went to grab my 1/2 ratchet and it was some no name POS i was so pissed it through one window and out the other of an exploder then i proceeded to search ever persons tool bag in the yard. my friends said while i was gone a group of "Hispanics" were looking at the car next to us on the side where my half inch trey was next to my friend who is 6' 3" and like 300lbs. and really not someone you would want to risk starting something with. but apparently the scum bags that were next to us were pretty slick because none of us noticed until they were long gone

and since then i don't lend out any tools and or let them out of my sight at any JY. scumbags are everywhere.

Wow, sorry to hear that. They are pretty slick pos... if they can't just walk out with the tools, they hide them and come back.
