Did the proposal thing this evening.
Here's the story:
I took her to a fancy dinner place here in Clarksville that we hadn't been to yet (it's a piano bar). Spent an ungodly amount of money on the best filet I've ever had and had a fabulous time doing so.
Afterwards, drove out into the country and pulled over on the side of the road kind of close to a house to try to see some meteorites (look up the Perseid meteor shower for reference). ... Read More
I get out of the car and try to get her to get out too, but she says "no" because we were too close to the house and she was scared (not sure why???). So after a few minutes of trying to get her to get out, she didn't
So I jumped back into the car and drove back home irritated and confused. Of course, she thought that she ruined the whole romantic evening (which she kind of did at the time).
Sulk around the house with everyone feeling bad about themselves for a while. While laying in bed at like 1130, she asks if I was going to propose to her. I obviously play it off as I wasn't. She decided that it would still be romantic and awesome if we went outside in the backyard to look at the moon and I could propose to her.
Well, I convinced her I didn't have a ring, but she still insisted we go outside. I ended up sneaking the ring outside and distracted her by telling her there was a satellite streaking across the sky.... Read More
After she turned around to stare at the lie I just told her, I pulled the ring-box out and got down on a knee and asked her to marry me.
The next two things she said was "Oh no you didn't", "Oh no you didn't", "Oh no you didn't". Then she started sobbing.
After a few long seconds of that, I just stood up and double-checked that she said yes. "Is that a yes" I inquired, with an approving headshake in return.
So it was kind of a fubar proposal, but I still managed to completely surprise her, and she had absolutely no idea that I had snuck around behind her back to buy it, pick it up from Nashville and hide it.
It's a .51c brilliant cut, G color, SI2 clarity set in a cathedral-type setting, 14k white gold.... Read More
It's very stressful keeping such a secret and managing to not let her figure out what was going on. I'm freaking glad it's over.
Whaddya think?
