Hyundai Radio Tech?

My wife asked me if I could install and aftermarket radio in her friend's '99 Hyundai Accent. I said "Sure, if I can figure out how to remove the dash panel."

How incredibly prescient of me! Went out to look at the car, found two retaining screws hiding behind the ashtray and removed them -- and the bezel doesn't want to come off the dashboard.

Does anybody know how to get this thing off? The radio itself should be a piece of cake, but I don't want to screw up the young lady's dashboard getting to it.

TIA

go to your local you pull-it and tear into one .i think it uses push on panels with spring clips.its just a matter of were to pull on the bezel as to not crack it .

Nice idea, Wil, except that there are no u-pull yards in CT. Nearest one I know of is 125 miles away, in MA via RI. Takes 2-1/2 hours to get there and the round trip would cost me $40 in gas plus $10 to get into the yard.

Still looking for Plan 'B' ...

Yeah the 95 accent is a pain to get the cd player out. I'm looking for a diagram that will show me wut to disconnect. I know how to take most of the console out but there something in the back holding it in place. Super pain in the a$$. For the other guy whos ahving a problem! Remove the screw under the ash tray (pull ashtray out first) and I also believe there was a screw on top of the console, but after just yank the whole console out (it snaps on and off so its simple to take off, but thats as far as i have gotten).

for the accent guys or any hyundai guys, go to www.hmaservice.com , full hyundai manuals for anythign for your car, great help. For removing interior sections to get radio out, just look up "interior"

Not sue what kind of heater control system is used in the new accents, but in the 99's and below the heater controls on the console had the links that had to be disconnected at the end that hooked up to the valves and whatnot had to be disconnected for the console to come out. Once this is done, the console comes out with a few wiring harnesses left to disconnect. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

I don't know how useful this info is, but a couple of places I found googling. Seems like there was another website that had all kinds of stereo install help, but I'm not finding it now. Mostly just sites trying to sell stuff.

Yeah, I tried Googling. What I found is typical teeny-bopper, ricer-tech stuff. I can't even read what those guys post. Remove the CONSOLE? It's like an XJ -- the console is on the floor, completely separate from the dashboard. What I need to get off is the bezel that covers the radio and heater controls -- pretty much the same deal as a 97+ XJ.

Thanks for trying.

what do you need to know, i used to work at a hyundai dealer as a parts mng.
