Hydroboosted Brakes

I want to continue my thread on the old forums.

I asked if anyone done a M/C and hydrobooster conversion from a M/C out of a K30 (M1008) Pickup.

Reason why i want to do it is that i'm already running 38.5s and i can't improve stopping power enough to stop those meats. I'm planning to go to D60s front and rear and want to know if this is doable.
 
I haven't dont the swap (yet) but I got my Hydroboost setup out of a 1985 Chevy Caprice Stationwagon, so you don't have to find a 1 ton Chevy P/U for the donor.
 
That's what i can get here in germany. :D We have to use what we're able to collect :cool: Do you have any information about the actuator rod? Do you have to change it?
 
Anyone? Nobody ever researched that?
 
I have wondered about hydroboost for quite a while now and am sending this thing back to the top in hopes that some more information will pop up. Please post if you find anything.

There is a company that makes hydroboost for older CJs and such, don't know if anyone has tried to contact them or not, but may be a starting point. I can't remember their name now, but I have seen ads in the 4x rags for some time.

Someone was asking me why i don't just do an upgrade of the M/C and booster of the newer XJ or ZJ.

The reason is that you can't beat the stopping power of a hydroboost. Oh, sorry, you can, but then you need air brakes :D For my future plans good brakes are essential because i'm planning on swapping axles and running real big meats :D

Please give me your thoughts, suggestions.

that should have some good info. as far as junkyard setups, i dont know what fits and what doesnt- im sure the actuator will need some modification, but most likely minimal ones..

Thanks, great link. BTW: for those who are interested too, all letters should be lower case to work in this link.

I will pick up the booster with the m/c next week and see what has to be changed.
