Hurricane

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone but its kind of silly to stay and "weather the storm." Six+ days advanced warning of this storm is a long time to get evacuated. As close as you guys are from the coast it would be smart to leave. I pray everyone is safe but if there are any injuries or even death I wouldn't blame it on anyone else except yourself. I just don't understand people that choose to stay. Remember katrina? Remember Andrew? Go ahead and flame. That's just my two cents.

i did andrew i saw that it did and lost people i knew, but it was a cat 5, kinda numbed me to storms, and this one is a weak cat 3 and soon to be a cat 2. and there isnt an evac order for residents just tourists.

your .02 is noted no flame intended:D

Got home from Myrtle about 20 minutes ago. This is what it looked like this morning when I woke up, with some of the outer bands just beginning to roll in:

REALLY wish we didn't have to come back today...I would have loved to watch it pass by. It was strangely warm when we left around lunch time for being very cloudy. Wasn't overly windy, but windy enough and some thunderstorms were rolling in as we were leaving.

The first outer band just rolled through Cary about 15 minutes ago, now I have some consistent rain. My Jeep starter isn't bolted in, I plan on rolling it into the street when I have an extra set of hands, out of the way of all the trees in the yard. My neighborhood always takes a hard hit with the trees. I can't think of a hurricane or ice/snow storm that I haven't cleared at least one whole tree out of a yard or street here.

Well 5 am and its still giving it hell outside. Powers is gone but everything is good. :)

Made landfall on Cape Lookout around 7:30am. Doesn't look extremely terrible from the pictures and videos they've been broadcasting so far, but i'm sure that will change as more and more people can get out and survey the damage.

Best of luck to you guys!

I think most of you will find this storm has little punch but the sustaind rain and wind doing the most damage.

power's on.....power's off.....power's on.......

half way through and still alive!!! The rain and storm surge are going the continue through the night, but as long as it doesn't strengthen we're fine here.

Things were very calm here. Only small debris from the trees down, the little annoying stuff to pick up.

I'm about a mile or so from Sandbridge (mandatory evacuation there) in Va Beach. The power is flickering but haven't lost it for more than a minute at a time, we did have a tornado go by about three miles from here that took some roofs off some houses. The hurricane itself isn't bad here though just a lot of rain in the last hour and probably wont stop for a few more... After you've been through a few of these they kinda become more of an annoyance.

Power back on (off since about 7:30) and things are slowly subsiding. Downtown Norfolk is currently under water and the dunes were breached in West Ocean View, but so far no standing water here:laugh3:

I'm hitting the sack in a few minutes and planning to get up and hit the store in the early A.M.--

best of luck to those North of us-- batten down the hatches and follow authority recommendations regarding evacuations.

Was a windy day in Charlotte...and that's about it. Couple of sprinkles last night, but none of the bands really made it this far inland.

Well gents we survived house went untouched. Been out all day clearing my neighbors yard. Me my best bud and a 16in chain saw wentto work on some big ass oaks. Hope all are safe. Oh had the jeep employed too. Made sort work of Some trees that needed to be move.
