Hope everyone stays safe during the storm. At Myrtle beach currently and already starting to see the clouds from the outer bands on the horizon.

Had to leave I assume? you coming back up by the shop on the way home?

im up here about 30 min from the coast and were gonna weather the storm. got all the supplies and the Jeep is fueled up, loaded with chain saw and all necessary recovery equipment to clear roads and such. should have a house full of people hunkering down. good company makes for a good time under any circumstances.

stay safe SEC!

oh fun fact, im a Southern Florida boy so im not too phased by a storm.

bmyohn(from the MWC) is stuck there til tomorrow. His trans went out on his way down so its being rebuilt and he's coming home tomorrow.

I imagine even with an evac order the guys in your area don't get to abide by that evac order. LOL! My parents line in Vero Beach.... I haev been through quite a few Hurrican's in my life. Google David 1979.... that was a doozy. Hugo everyone in the SE knows about. Those are the two biggest I went through. Andrew missed us by over 100 miles. GL Timmy stay safe.

Is he in Myrtle?

mid day Saturday ought to prove interesting here-- 200 yards from the water and a expected storm surge of 7-8 feet. Power will probably be shut off around 11a.m. and will be turned on when they can safely power back up. Isabelle only took 8 days to get power back to most homes:bawl:

Who knows, if we make it through, I might have some cool pics to show......

No evacuations in this part of the Carolina's. We were planning on being home by tomorrow night regardless so we're just going to leave a couple of hours earlier...probably around lunch time.

I'd love to swing by the shop on my way through but my buddy that's riding with me needs to get back early evening. Something about work real early Saturday morning or some responsible BS like that :D

You're only an hour or so from my apartment anyways so some Saturday ill take a ride down for sure and hang out for the day

Enjoying one last night of bad habits before reality hits again. Its amazing how beautiful the weather is tonight. Definitely the calm before the storm!

I lived in Pensacola for 3 years and did not get one storm. Now I live in Goldsboro and we are gonna get a pretty good one. The wing left today. Tomorrow I just have to weatherproof my office. The good news is that the golf course ought to be clear.

Hurricane Party?

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone but its kind of silly to stay and "weather the storm." Six+ days advanced warning of this storm is a long time to get evacuated. As close as you guys are from the coast it would be smart to leave. I pray everyone is safe but if there are any injuries or even death I wouldn't blame it on anyone else except yourself. I just don't understand people that choose to stay. Remember katrina? Remember Andrew? Go ahead and flame. That's just my two cents.

well all of ya that are going to stay through the strorm my prayers will be with yall. hope yall stay safe out there. i know i wouldnt want to be in all that stuff. that and i swim like a rock.

I have less of a choice. If we lose power here at the base we are going to have to man the vaults to keep them secure. Unless the base is evacuated, then we can leave.

People who live in the SE are no stranger to storms and know how to prepare and handle them. As long as you know the risks and are willing to accept any consequences for staying.

Katrina was much different. Katrina was a cat 5 and hit an area with many stubborn people. In NC, we know not to play around with storms thar big!

This is what I was thinking. SOme of these guys are not satying out of choice. They have to secure the base.

Katrina was much different. Katrina was a cat 5 and hit an area with many stubborn people who chose to live in a city built below sea level. In NC, we know not to play around with storms thar big!

Fixed it for you!

And by secure the vault, I mean we will be pushing the keg into the hall and securing that too. I love being an LT

absolutely no offense taken-- only a fool would live under a tree in a place known to have storms, only a fool would live on the shore line of a river known to flood, and only a fool would live on the beach in the Southeast.

evacuation is definitely the smart answer and the rest of the family is packing for Ohio as I type this. The unfortunate circumstance in this case is that my employer is far more concerned with the ability of our store to remain open to help the community than the possible risk to it's employees. Dollars trump people in the world of business as we are more replaceable than the money.

We will hear more about plans for Saturday on a mandatory call this evening. This will give us ample time to bug out if it looks necessary, but we are still expected to return to the store as soon as we safely can do so.

I have weathered my share (and then some) of storm between here, OBX, and Clearwater. I'm expecting this to be as bad as Floyd and Isabelle around here, but all of the newer structures are built to sustain higher winds than forecasted and the remainder of the infrastructure has been in place through worse.

Only time will tell what happens, but in this case we, as a community, have very specific mandatory evacuations for locations known to flood. Those people should leave and those close should really consider it too.

You folks who are staying - make sure to take a lot of pictures and videos!

Additionally, the rest of the SEC family is here in case you need anything afterwards.

In a way, I'm kind of jealous.

Oh, the Dominator is going to park itself and take measurements and video of teh hurricane.
