New Orleans is Darwinism at it's finest........

So last week I'm watching the History Channel Engineering Disasters "When the Levee's Broke" with my 10 and 7 year old, and the 7 year old asks....."Dad, why would they build a city below sea level?".............DING, DING, DING, We have a winner, folks!!!

The documentary went on to explain how the Army Corp on Engineers took over the levee maintenance in the 1930's ( waste of public funds ) and how the constant pumping and draining of the area is actually causing New Orleans to sink further below sea level.

There's some stupid folks up in Sacramento, CA also...no not just the ones in the state house. I was driving up to Tahoe on I-80 and when crossing the Sacramento River Bridge saw new construction of homes less than 100' from the river levee...sheez the stupdity of people...or the ignorance in favor of making a buck.

Sounds as bright as building houses within 40ft of a rail road right of way:wierd:

Since this is the final term for George W. Bush do you think he will risk blowing up the levies in New Orleans a second time? :roflmao:

The mayor is an idiot too. He should have taken alot more responsibility but used one certain aspect of his to dodge the bullet.

Agreed. It is amusing that last time he failed. it was FEMAs fault. This time since he got everyone out HE succeeded.

New Orleans is Socialism at its finest. Take a look at that place. It's a view through the looking glass of an Obama presidency and blue Congress.

he would be doing us all a favor. they deserve everything they get for be retarded. why would you build a city below sea level on the sea? i have no sympathy.

Yeah, I can't decide if a direct hit on NO would make things better or worse.

On the "better" side it may end up proving that NO is a waste of US money and anybody who wants to live there is going to do without Federal financial assistance, no home insurance, higher life insurance costs, etc....all the costs associated with living there.

On the "worse" side, we would probably just have to pay for it all over again out of our taxes. I am smart enough to realize that building a city in such a vulnerable position is a bad idea and screws over the whole country when things go wrong...I shouldn't have to pay for peoples bad choices. I'm a conservative/libertarian who believes very minor assistance is sometimes necessary to help people get better before they reach the point of no return and become social slugs but when people make bad choices (like living in NO) over and over again, I shouldn't have to give them 1 penny of my money.

Look, there are 13 people that either didn't get the humor in the question or who thinks we never landed on the moon...
