How fast?

there is at least 1 5.3 build that I know of, dig through other pages in this sub forum there is a VERY detailed build thread.

edit: dude it's on the first page still don't be lazy do some digging man

Hahaha yeah I'm aware of that. Not building it to race but just seeing what ricers I could mess with ;)

I doubt it'll be that fast unless you have a firm suspension and sticky tires. It makes a huge difference.

That said, add a second or two and you might be in the ballpark. Still pretty quick for a built Jeep.

Not too long after I bought my Renix XJ, stock with 235/75 Dueler AT's I took it to Sac raceway. Best time was 17.4 @ 76mph in 4wd. So, sure you can could get at least into the high 14s/low 15s easily.
I plan on a LQ/LS swap sometime soon, when funds permit. Wanting to go with LQ4/6LxxE

Thanks for the info! I want a Lq4 too (well i really want the ls2 but cant find one for a reasonable price) What's the 6lxxE?

What would be the advantages to the 6l80e six speed?
2 extra gears, including a taller OD gear for some better hwy mileage. And 2nd best auto trans that GM offers.. only because the Allison is stronger. This came from a veteran heavy-line GM tech.

More gears means more likely to be be in the right gear wrt power band at any given time.

Really, in a Jeep all that really matters is how deep first is and how high top gear is while having a decent spread between them - unless you are going to be doing racing (real racing, not straight line crap).

I keep trying to convince my friend to join Naxja... But he won't... So I'll have to nab some pictures. But, my friend got a cherry XJ for free when his granny died, so he decided to make a drag car! He's running a stroker and some other crap (I don't know the specs) lowered on super stiff springs / drag tires. I know he runs low 11s on an awesome day and probably averages 12 seconds.

There's no way you can even get close to that with an XJ built for offroad.. I'll see if I can convince him to bring it to school to let me get some pictures...

There's a built '91 in the NAC f/s section right now, the owner is as big of a ricer as they come... But they also pump out sub-9 second cars :) Different strokes for different folks. Power if you ever decide to make this thing happen do like FrankZ and document every bolt and nuts removed/installed lol.

What do you guys think about the new 6.2 and a 6l80e?

Edit: I decided on a 4.5 inch long arm lift with either 33x12.50s or 32x11.50s

IIRC the 6L80 is physically larger than the 4L60. If you go to ls1tech you should be able to find some data.

Reality, does it really matter? If you are prepared to do this swap then what's a little tin bending?

Do you guys see any problems or any parts that will make swapping a 6.2/6l80e harder than a 5.3/6.0??

Yeah, what's a little bit of pounding sheet metal with a hammer to get your trans/t-case to fit?
