How does one start a Chapter?

Step one: Become a member.
Step two: Get other people to be members.
Step three: Rally them together, make them want one.
Step four: Petiton the BOD with the request.

There's no problem being a member without a chapter though, it's just as fun.

What is the number of members in your smallest chapter?

The by-laws state that you need at least seven active members, and 2 on the BOD.

There has to be enough interest in an area to support a chapter.

I think the country is 100% covered except for AK and HI.
SPOBI!

Try again.

Just because I have my own chapter doesn't mean that all the Mid Southern states are accounted for. :D

There is too much distance between members in this region for people to want to organize monthly meetings and have to drive 4 to 8 hours (at least) each way.

While we may have the numbers in this 6 state area, member involvement would be low.

The Canadian folks probably feel the same way.

IIRC, this led to the downfall of the Texass Chapter.

Believe me, I'd love to be in a real chapter, even if it were in Texass.

Chapterhood requires a few basic steps:

1. A chapter roster with at least 7 active members who will be members of the chapter.
2. A chapter board of directors of at least 2 NAXJA members
3. Chapter By-Laws or adoption of the NAXJA by-laws as the chapter by-laws.
4. Sponsorship of a NAXJA sanctioned annual event hosted and funded by the chapter.
5. A declared region of either state, province or logical boundaries. (ie city or region).

At this time, AK, HI, and TX are the only of the 50 states not included in a chapter. The District of Columbia is not a declared region of either the SEC or the NAC, though we have no members in that state either.

On an interesting note LA is declared as part of the SEC, but we have no members there.

Any other questions?

Could you please expand upon this or provide a link showing the member states of each chapter? I had no idea that Oklahoma. was in a chapter. Or Kansas. Or Arkansas. Or many others.

Thanks Skorpyo.

The MWC has Ark. and Kan.
The Terry Chapter has Ok.

So you're saying that I belong to the MW chapter?

I belong, I really belong.

Wait, I've read the threads in that chapter forum. Can I just stick with the Terry Chapter?

Terry,
If you go to the members roster you can click on any state and it will list the members and their respecitve chapter. I can tell you that the following chapters encompas the following regions:
