Hot rodding a RENIX in Cali

Nobody 's answering your cam question!!! LOL. Almost like it's on purpose.

How's your connector cleaning going?

DUUUUUUUUUUUDE, I KNOW! Haha, maybe I should have posted in Modified Tech because it seems like more traffic goes though there. I know how to research a cam but I was hoping someone had real experience with one that might know if it will pass smog and what the drive ability is like. With my gearing, tire size and the speed I like to cruise on the freeway I'd like something that provides a really good torque point around 2,800 rpms so that way cruising between 2,500 and 3,000 grand will be nice. I want good throttle response, broad torque curve and high vacuum. Honestly I'm probably going to stick with stock or something REALLY close to stock. I just want something a little more dialed in. As for my ground and connector cleaning I've decided to pull the entire under hood harness when I do the engine so I can clean, inspect and redo any other connections. I want ALL potential electrical issues taken care of as best I can. So much of the plastic loom stuff is gone or cracking so I want to inspect and redo all that to make sure I prevent future shorts. Sounds like a lot of pointless work on a 87' Cherokee BUT I wont regret it when I go on those long trips in the back country. My motto is "I do things to the best of my ability so when I do make a mistake, hopefully it wont matter as much". You guys got any other nifty ideas that I can do while my Jeep is down? Any other mods? I'm amped up to take care of business!hasta

don't have time to re-read but didn't you say you had a HO motor in a renix? May wanna try a renix cam. I've heard rumors of them being more slightly more aggresive due to the lower flow head. may wanna verify that though.

most of the difference was in the duration and overlap, because of the EGR. I can't honestly say which would perform better.

I can say that the Renix seems to have more "grunt" down low than the HO's I've driven, and I've lugged mine badly but it still pulls. it's a damned tractor motor after all.

The 87-95(renix and obd1) cams are the same. I recall reading on the net that the cam was installed advanced a few degrees in the renix application(or retarded in the obd1), so you'd get a lil more torque earlier in the rpm range at the expense of less in the higher rpm range. Hopefully someone can confirm this so it won't be hearsay on my part.
