HOLLISTER!! MARCH 11TH

Alright i took another head count of guys that are coming with me head count is fivr with i believe four vehicles. Might just might have another three vehicle not Sure on those tho.

Hello, I am new to the forum. My self in white XJ with black trim and brother in Black cj should be messing around in Hollister around 930-1pm. It is the shake down run with my 96 XJ rolling on 33MTRs and 4.56s. I had a CJ over 10 years ago and this XJ I think is gonna work way better that my old cj5. See you all there.

okay I'll be there in my XJ. I'll try to get there at the course around 10 and probably leave around 1230 or so. remember to spring forward your clocks!

I guess Ill be the only one in the Yota. Yaaaahhaaaaaaaa.

Sounds like we have a good turnout. We'll be at the obstacle course mudpit around 1045am. CB channel 16.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE TIME CHANGE.

You can meet us at the Holiday Inn in San Jose at 9:15am and leave there by 9:30am.

The Holiday Inn is located at the intersection of Hwy 85 and Hwy 101 in San Jose:
399 Silicon Valley Boulevard
San Jose, CA 95138
(located intersection of Rue Ferrari and Bernal; look for the Summit Steakhouse - it is in the same parking lot.)

Fun day. We cruised down from San Jose with 9 vehicles and met up with several more. Good times

Good day of wheeling. Popped the bead on my passenger side front 20 feet short fromt the top of "five fingers". Also wasnt able to quite make it up the hill climb that goes straight up to the very highest hill they got that over look all Downtown Hollister and be on. But other than that i wish I would have been able to roll with yall more but had to stick with the other rigs that i invited down.

Oh ya also was able to finally accomplished balancing my truck on the balance board setup in the obstacle course.

Was it one of your axles?
:twak:

you know me, the life of the party!

i blew up a u-joint (less than 150 miles on it since installing it, spicer brand solid, not drilled for grease.)
& it killed my both pieces of my short side 30 spline cro-mo front axle shaft.
yeah, fun! :gee:

Thanks Josh for convincing me to come out - came out and played on the easy stuff on the course since i'm a complete newbie.

to knucklehead, i'm curious what you would/could do different to the rig to prevent that breakage? It looked like you were turned a bit while having a bounce on the log

Hey all it's Chris. I guess I do have an account. Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome day. Especially thanks to josh for your vast knowledge of xj's. I have pictures I have to resize before I can load. Have high quality copy's I can send thru email. Tim I got some pics of your axle debockle that ill load. Thanks again.

i could put my d-60 on this rig instead of my red xj, that may work. :anon:
what killed it was excessive pressure on the skinny pedal.
turning the wheels while applying lots of throttle didn't help either. :banghead:

Some good lessons and observations from this trip:
a) when you mash the throttle and your rig is bouncing up and down - stuff breaks
b) tow points are a requirement
c) don't use tow straps with metal hooks on them
d) its good to have other wheelers around to help if you get broke/stuck
e) maybe stay out of the mud pits

Let's do it again soon.

Hey Josh - did someone use the one with the metal hooks and it broke on you guys?
