That was flux core, .30.

I just picked up a 50cu ft tank, 8" spool of .30 and a few other small things. Ill see how the gas works tonight when i work on the sides.

Looks good! I used to rent a Miller 140 when my Lincoln 175HD was on the fritz (it is old and I paid $150 for it) and I really liked it. Since they make the Hobart I assume you will be equally happy.

Here are some closeup of .30 with shielding gas. I am very pleased with this welder!

Those are good looking welds. I'm no pro welder or anything, so I can't comment on the quality, but I'd be proud if those were mine.

So even with gas you are getting good penetration on the 1/4"?

I did most of the 1/4 with the flux core, but i need to pull the bumper off and do some touch up welds.

The biggest thing i noticed is that i needed to use a slower speed on the wire to get the welds looking good.

So i got started on the new bumper today and i really like the way the HH 140 welds.
