So I have the hobart 140 and just finished setting it up with gas, im using CO2 as thats what I had lying around. Its the CO2 tank I take wheeling for air up but it will work. I have a regulator thats adjustable that I got. I hooked everything up, got some brand new solid wire .035 and tryed her out. I messed with the output pressure a little but cant seam to find a good setting. The welds are coming out honeyconed. What could by my problem? What so I set my output pressure to? If I have a leak in the regulator would that came me the problem? What ever info I can get would be great. Maybe I just set something up wrong. Thanks guys

to be honest you should use something like 75% arogon and 25% oxy i weld for a living and thats the best and the honeyconed is also called "Porosity" which means no gas. The gas is used to shield the weld then it turns into flux.

15-30 should be fine. Have you checked that you are getting gas flow at the nozzle? Otherwise the problem can be surface contamination from oil/grease, rust or paint.

Unless you are welding outside in the wind?

Is the machine gas ready, some require additional mods. You also need a flow regulator(in addition to a pressure regulator). Also dont forget to change the polarity.

FWIW, when I first got my HH140 I had a bunch of extra .035 flux core (from my older Lincoln) that I ran through and never got great welds with. After talking to tech support at Hobart, they told me that even though it is sized to run .035 wire, it is optimized and runs best on .030. "It will create a better arch density and penetrate better than .035." I switched an have had good welds with it since. This is still flux core though.

Might be worth a try though. If all else fails put some solid .030 in there and see if it helps.

I mostly run 030 but just had some 035 so I thought I would try it. I like using 035 on thicker stuff as it does better, but on thinner I like to use 030. O well lesson learned and all. Thats whys this is just my little welder. I love my shops welder. the Miller 240 mhm love it. With digital wirefeed.

If you want the best and cleanest beads use C-25 mix 75% Argon - 25% CO2.

I had CO2 around so I thought I would try it. I know 75-25 is better, just wanted to try it.
