high idle

my 99' cherokee has about a 2000 rpm idle and downshifts after i let off the brakes and roll a bit. but it kicks down to about 900 RPM when i drop it into drive. I have no idea what could be wrong with it. i just replaced the throttle position sensor. Anybody have any input that may be useful i am open to ideas.

Did you replace the TPS because of this? Or did it start after you replaced the TPS? Check for vacuum leaks, such as the PCV hose from the valve cover to the intake manifold lose. You could also clean your IAC valve on the throttle body.
