hahahahaha i didnt even see that...
ya the header panel/fender hurt for a second but then i was happy cuz then i remembered the lady agreed to let me make 'tube fenders'(full tube replacement of the sheetmetal that ties into bumper and sliders ) if i damamged the fenders!!
Well the bumper is all but wrapped up. Need to run a few more beads and make a holder for the winch hook. But otherwise it's set to go. Winch fits in there exactly how I wanted. Pretty stoked. Went back and redid some old welds as well and welded some spots I hadn't got before.X
Beads runnin on winchplate to tube. Gettin better.X
Here you can see how I trimmed the grill to fit around the winch.X
Nice bumper!! I'm sure you are proud, i would be if i never used a welder or bender and came up with something like that. Keep up the fab work you are a natural at it. good work.
Is your winch plate tied into the front cross member?
Two things I've seen done nicely on front mounts from vendors:
Angle brackets that mount the side pieces to the front crossmember (AJ's) and support brackets that mount the winch plate to the front crossmember (Detours).
If you did something like that, I think you'd be all set to pull on that winch. I don't like the way it's just mounted to the tube and the side pieces, but that's just me.
I've never had a winch that attached anywhere other than side plates and I've never had a problem. I've broken bolts holding winch to plate but never bumper to jeep. :dunno:
