Hey guys, so I'm kinda new to the colorado area, my jeep and I grew up in upstate NY. So of course you know it has tons of rust. I can't have the tire mounted on the rear tire carrier because the frame is rusting out. Im looking to buy a rust free Colorado jeep and swap over my lift and everything. I however live in an apartment complex, so space is tight, and I don't have access to a compressor. Just basic hand tools.
I was curious if A. does anyone know of someone with a nice garage I could use to get it swapped over in a weekend? I of course could pay the owner, or buy beer and food? Or B would it be possible to get a bunch of people to come over a day or two and help me out with swapping stuff over? I of course would supply beer and food if needed? Again I don't know if you guys do this type of stuff in this area.
Anyways heres my Heep -

It basically is a pretty straight forward swap, I just need help swapping over my Clayton 5.5' lift to the new rust free jeep.

Im not prepared for removing broken bolts at my location and would rather not be stuck here if a bolt or two breaks.

Thank you guys, I appreciate your time and help!

I'm in Westminster and may be able to offer my garage, depending on when you plan to do this.

I do have a few questions: Did you do all the work to your current Jeep? What is your experience level when it comes to working on your Jeep? Are you swapping the axles? What is your plan to remove your soon to be unlifted Jeep after the lift is removed?

I went to school to be a mechanic, So I'm mechanically inclined. I did not install the lift myself, as it was a North east jeep and I'd heard horror stories of bolts snapping. I'm not sure about the axels yet, I guess it depends on the milage on the new rust free jeep. I plan on switching all the stock suspension to the rusted jeep and selling it or donating it, I have no need for two jeeps.

Thanks!
I've been looking on Craigslist for reasonable 98-01 jeeps.
I found one on Craigslist with a rebuilt motor, but it has a salvaged tiltle..

I think what Matt's asking is: How do you plan to get the rusted hulk out of his garage if he lets you use it? :D

Yes I have a non knocking motor, no engine hoist though. I'm assuming I could rent one. But will that fit in the back of a jeep? Does your dad live in Westminster?

My dad is unlimitedmatt. You can buy a cheap foldable one at harbor freight over off 88th and Sheridan. Matt is about a mile and a half from there anyways.

My dad is unlimitedmatt...
and he knows a grumpy old man who would probably loan him an engine hoist.

If I had $1500, I'd be driving my AAA card all the way to Avon for that white XJ. After all, flex plates make a knocking sound too.

Maybe it is time to go for a drive, find out how bad that knock really is. Take an extra driver, just in case. On the weekend/State holidays, you can drive home with proof of insurance and a bill of sale.

At the very worst, you get to see some Colorado scenery.

As tempting as that sounds, I'd rather just swap over suspensions.
I would rather not tie up someone's garage or driveway for more than a day or so.
It would be different if I had the space to do it at my current location.
