hello everyone, while @ Hollister toy run I/we (ie: My Daughter) Broke my right rear axle 35 w/ARB. So I removed the cover @ home to find that the brass tube for the locker broke also the bearing must have spun pic#1 (A) but the problem is I can not figure out how to get to the C-clips to remove them and the broke peice of the axle. also pic#1(B) are the teeth marks normal or do I have something else to worry about. And do I have to remove the end of the axle in pic#2 by removing the "Hex Bolts" then should the other outer broken piece slide out or do need to persuade it a little thank you in advance for any of your help I know I need to upgrade to a 44 but $$$ alittle tight and I do have spare axles just need a little help Thxs BroDave

WOW!
You did something ugly to get the marks and loose the air line! I did the same on a 44, parts went to bad places when I drove on it.

You have my head spinning on the C-Clipped ARB, I really want to know the answer to that. Is it a Super 35 ARB?

Here is the ARB install distractions:

Great link Dave. Page 41 and 42 (or 39 and 40 depending on how you look at it) describe how to remove the c-clips.

If you need help let me know. I am pretty close by.

So on page 20 it enplanes about how on some Dana 35's Pinion gear is too long, and needs to be machined away.
Maybe this is what made the marks in the center of the locker?

Also here is a shot of my rear 44 air line that was cut off when the axle broke:

Not good to drive on a busted axle. :bawl:

Do you have both c-clips and bearing retainers? Or is that just a seal housing for the disc conversion. As long as it's only a seal the axle ends shouldn't need to be removed since the bearings are not pressed on the axle but into the tube instead. The broken outer part of the shaft "should" just slide out. Mine always moved in and out easily just using my hands. If yours are not moving I'd guess that the bearing is pressed on the end requiring you to remove that housing on the end of the axle. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

ok leaves r raked up time to work on the axle O no the the Ducks are on the "civil war" starts in a couple of mins GO DUCKS:sunshine:

UPDATE: Its not a C/clip 35 afterall its a 92 yj 35 and the axles that I have been draging around with me just in case in the back of the XJ for 4years are not even the correct axles Sh#t got it a part and will be shopping for the correct parts now
