So, I just joined up. I'm in Ashland OH, right at the halfway point between Cleveland and Columbus on 71.
Just introducing myself.
Flame away, and if you can throw in some useful info amongs the hating I'd appreciate it. Like where is the midwest chapters website I read about?

www.midwestxj.org

there is a forum over there, image hosting, and a main page...

Hello from Nebraska!

gonna make it out to winterfest? check out the "Winterfest" thread in the events forum here - it'd be nice to meet new people!

I would love to...unfortunately the Jeep wouldn't...
She needs a new tranny, and new wheel bearings, and new motor mounts before I would feel comfortable taking it on a trip that long, or off road for that matter. I also need to get a real rear bumper, with recovery points. I've gt a hitch back there, but it's covered up by the stupid roll pan a PO put on.

do you have the tranny?

the wheel bearings and motor mounts dont take but more than a few hours to change...

Ohio is a long drive for me, but im sure someone who lives closer could lend a hand...

I don't have the ranny yet, looking for an external slave model. That and the holidays sapped the play money.
I do have a friend with a full lift tat I can borrow, and I think I might have conned...err...volunteered someone from the comanche board that has done the swap to help me :)

I like that roll pan... I didn't know anyone made them for MJ's. Wanna sell it?

I think it's a custom piece. It's steel and welded to the quarters and with some strap to the hitch.
You're second behind Eagle. He's already asked me. I will be cutting it off and replacing it with something beefy, so if he doesn't want it then it's yours. my biggest issue is that I don't have any of the bumper mounting brackets, and I don't have a welder. SO I'm not sure how I'm going to make a bumper :)
The roll pan looks sweet, but it's bound to get ripped off if I go wheelin.

I have extra bumper mounting brackets if you want a pair. They are significantly strong enough to build a bumper off of.

Eagle gets all the good stuff. You should see the inside of his garages.

SOLD!
Do they mount to the bumper with bolts? I was going to go with a "no weld" bumper, and just use 2x4 box channel and bolt it to brackets. It will do well enough, I can use my hitch for a rear recovery point for the time being, it's weled to my frame, so it should be plenty strong enough.

What is box channel? There's box, and then there's channel.

They bolt to the inside of the OEM bumper, but you might need a piece of angle to mate them to the flat face of a length of box tube.

yeah, there was supposed to be a slash in there. as in Box/Channel, depending on what seems like it would work the best. I'll certainly figure something out I could take something simple down to the JVS welding class for them to do cheap, but I'm not sure I would trust them to build an entire bumper.
