Heater probs

I am having some probs with my heater. If I leave the heater turned on all the time it will warm up and work just fine. But, if I turn it off, and get in my XJ turn it on b4 start up, or after start up. It does not work. Any ideas as to what might be causing it.

The heater in my '87 doesn't work, but that is because the thermostat is stuck open. Probably completely unrelated to your problem, but if your engine temp never gets up to 210 you might want to look into it. Other than that the only thing i can think of is faulty wiring somewhere.

It always caps at 210-215. So, not sure what else it could be. Thought it might be heater core but, dunno...
