So I took apart my head the other day on my rebuild engine and was pretty disappointed at what I found. No cracks, but everything was out of spec. Deck was warped at .008", guides were worn .004", seats were worn (and look like they had already been ground once), and the exhaust valves were pitted pretty bad. Keep in mind I know nothing about the history of this engine, but by the looks of thing I'm guessing his oil was pretty dirty. LOTS of scuffing on the pistons skirts and all bearings. Crank has to be turned as well...
All of the machine work (for the head) would cost about 500 bones out the door, plus new oversized valves which I haven't even looked into yet.
So what are my options as far as a new or reman'd head goes? It's a '99, which I think is the 0630? I haven't looked at the casting, and all this searching and numbers has my head spinning. Some of the reman'd ones on ebay look pretty sketch....
