Howdy friends. Well, inspection's coming up and I'm gonna have to either swap my wheels and tires for a few hours or buy new flares. Seein' as how I'm lazy and I'm not gonna want to swap all four tires twice in one day, I'm looking to get some flares. I don't want TJ flares, cuz I think they look like shite, and I'm not a huge fan of the "pocket style" Bushwackers. BUT, I'd be willing to give them a try if I knew what they'd look like on a setup similar to mine.

So, does anyone have pics of an XJ (preferably a 2 door, but 4 is fine) with 3.5-4.5" of lift, 31x10.50s, and some sort of aftermakret flares? Be sure to tell me what kind they are so I can take them into consideration. And if you've got the pocket style wackers, lemme see those too. I might go that route but I gotta see 'em first. Thanks in advance.

And I searched :D

What kind of inspection is it up for? Jusy curious. I'm sorry man i dont have aftermarket flares yet on my rig or i would post some pics. Im running stock flares with Rubicon wheels so my tires dont stick out. I wish I could help you out man.

Personally I think if someone has a pic of they're own set-up it would be a friendly gesture to help out a fellow JEEPER. Searching is a very great tool, but looking for something specific can make it very tedious searching through hundreds of thousands of pics of different rigs, why not be able to just scroll through one thread and see the pics that are posted up by everyones individual rig.

I tried searching, but it seems like most people with 31s don't add flares cuz they don't have to, but in WV your tires can't stick out AT ALL. XJDB didn't turn much up either.

The inspection is just routine state inspection, and the Jeep will fail if the tires extend even slightly past the fender flares. I got 4" BS for added stabilty and COG, and always intended on getting flares, I'm just not sure which ones would give me legal coverage and still look okay.

TJs and Bushwackers will both look way too big on 31s. My TJs (and I like em, so there) make my 35s look mild.

Besides, if you're really looking for the "easy" way, I'd rather change eight tires than all the measuring and cutting involved in the high-clearance flares.

'Course, I'd never advocate such a flagrant attempt to violate the spirit of the inspection process...

Not bashing the TJ flare setup, some like it some don't, I happen to not. And that's why I don't want bushwackers, cuz they'll just look ridiculous over 31s. I thought about their Extend-a-Flares, which look almost identical as the stock flares but with 2" of coverage, but I don't think I've ever actually seen them on an XJ. As far as just switchin the tires out for a day, it's really not that big a deal, but it doesn't solve the legality issue. Cops around here are Sgt. Hartman wannabes with big attitudes, so I'm waiting for the day to come.

dude! make some out of pvc and some hard plastic sheeting and bolt them puppies up for the inspection.

then, take em back off, yeah its illegal..and you will get caught some day..but it works.

What ever is works right? Hell, anyone can make a stupid law, if you get pulled over because of a fender flare then start a revolt. Just drive safe and the fuze won't bother you.

In WV though you can be driving fine and if the cop thinks your tires look to wide they can pull you over for just that and then you get a unsafe equipment ticket. If i were you and you just needed to pass i would go to your local hardware store and get some of the rubber base mold. I have seen people do it before and they past inspection with them

i ran rustys flares with my 31s, and they looked good, the tires came out to the edge of the flare in the back, and the fronts stuck out no worse than stock (flares and stock wheels) i did not think.

This is on 31s with 3.5 or 4 bs, i cant remember
