HARLAN August 21 and 22

Got the rear spare drive shaft built, all I have to do to finish teh front is weld it.

I have a stove and microwave for anyone who needs it.
 
Cool, I will probably need to borrow a food heating source...sounds like y'all have me covered.

What about firewood? I have some, but I guess you're not supposed to move it from one place to another, huh?

BTW, my plan is to leave at 3:00 on Friday when my son gets out of school. Then pick up my brother and nephew on the way. Should put us there just in time to set up camp before dark. Hate to cut it short, but we have some family plans on Sunday, so we'll be driving home Sat night.
 
I just think the wood is not supposed to be moved from state to state, so I think it would be ok if you brought some.....

Sounds great to me, Neal lives right by there so I'd be heading out that way regardless.

Getting excited for this, work has been insane (this is the first I've looked at NAXJA in days!) Can't wait to get the hell away from "life as usual."

Loading up tomorrow night and pretending I'm leaving Wednesday... 24 hours should be enough slack time to remember all the stuff I normally forget.
 
Did some temporary fixing on my brakes (if anyone has an extra front passenger side knuckle that'll work on a '99 let me know), greased all my u-joints, replaced the grease boot on my rear driveshaft, rivetted on a piece of metal to keep my exhaust leak from drying and cracking the new boot, and strapped up the e-brake line to keep it from rubbing on the DS. That's probably all I'll have time to get done for this trip.

Oh shi... amongst all of the other crap I completely forget to make camping reservations. If I call tomorrow will I likely be screwed or will I still be OK?

I do see that the lower campground has WiFi though... how cool is that?


Gearing up for the 7 hour drive... how bad are the hills down there? Never driven anywhere but flat really... not to mention pulling a trailer...

My guess is you'll be ok. The guy was pretty cool and he said he would be calling me back the week of the reservation to confirm that I'm still coming, but I haven't heard from him. If he was full, I think he would be calling.

With that said, though, I have a spot in the lower for Fri and Sat, but I don't need Sat now. I won't cancel until I see you've got a spot.

Hell, I might bring the 360 and bust out some Halo during the evening hours :D

Will be giving them a call tomorrow morning and making sure I have a spot to camp. I'll let you know what I find out.

He called me yesterday, to make sure I was still coming and asked if most of the people in the group were coming I said yes.
 
He never called me back to confirm, whoops just found his message on the answer machine, I will call him back this morning. Loading everything up today and heading out first thing in the morning tomorrow

He asked me specificaly if you were going to make it, I said yes.
 
Jeep is already and sitting on the trailer, just gotta sort through the camp gear that is already in the truck and see what goes and what stays
 
I still have another drive shaft to build, load the hauler, and pack. Will be a good morning.

Don't forget bring your brews I think Harlan is dry.
