HARLAN August 21 and 22

10am would be fine. We could meet in Lafayette (out of your way), Frankfort, or Lebanon, either is fine with me. I would also like to arrive before dark. Until this, the farthest from home I've been is Redbird, which is 2.5-3 hours away, so needless to say, I am excited!! Neal is still bringing his Xterra out, he still hasn't fixed his tail light from Redbird so I am going to find him a replacement. I guess he's planning to drive to Texas after wheeling and visit his parents... hopefully he doesn't break anything :D

Glad to know I'm not the only one. My goal was to get at least one axle locked before the trip and I've failed miserably. Lucky for me, I'll have a blast either way.

Brian, I am in the mood (or mode) to pick up some mid and front frame stiffeners. I don't want to add to your pre-Harlan list, but if you bring me sets of each and save me the shipping, I'm happy to pay you cash when I get there. Looks like $230 total to me, let me know if that's cool with you. Otherwise I'll make a trip down to visit you some time, but then I'll bring my XJ and make you weld them on (paying your favorite currency for labor, whatever that may be).
pm sent.

man, I wish it were Thursday already, I am so looking forward to this trip, may have to wash and wax the buggy to kill some more time

The XJ to do list before the trip is short:
1) Check front end alignment after bending the tie-rod during the car crushing last weekend
2) Center steering wheel
3) Load the XJ

Before the above gets done gotta few side jobs this weekend:
1)Low oil pressure light on after engine warms up,trans leak, remove radiator to repair drain plug on my son's car.
2)Replace front struts, front sway bar links, outer tie-rod ends, and in cab air filter on a Dodge Caravan

That dude is nuttier than squirrel turds! I know him well enough to know he will probably put a dent or two on it at least! I bet he's packing the turkey fryer huh? :D

Here is the fee sytem stuff for those who wanted to know

To All Visitors:

It is the goal of the Harlan County Outdoor Recreation Board Authority to provide our visitors with the best possible off-road destination in Eastern Kentucky. While the Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area has many local supporters who help make it what it is, necessary funds are vital for its growth and development.

A permit fee system has been enacted to ride on Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area. This permit system will grant the funds necessary for maintenance of the park, security, enhancement of existing trails, fund new trails and necessary projects for the improvement of the park.

Permits can be purchased yearly or monthly and are sold per vehicle. A yearly pass can be purchased at $35.00 or a 31 day pass can be purchased for $20.00 per vehicle.

Owners of multiple vehicles can purchase one pass for up to three vehicles. All the vehicles will be listed in our database. However, the purchaser will only be allowed one vehicle on the park at a time. The permit will be changed to the vehicle in use for that day. The yearly permit will be at cost of $40.00 or the 31 day permit can be purchased at a cost of $25.00. The permit could not be permanently fixed to any vehicle since only one permit would be given.

Family permits will also be available for purchase. These permits are for owners of several vehicles that would use more than one vehicle on the park at a time. This would be considered a family situation. Each vehicle would receive a sticker and I.D. The cost of the first vehicle would be $35.00, the second would be $30.00, the third and all others would be $20.00. There will be no family permits for 31 days.

For more information on any of the permits listed above or to inquire when and where they will be available for purchase please contact the board secretary, Susan Haught at 606-573-4495 or you can email her at [email protected].

Thank you for your support and for making Black Mountain Off-road Adventure Area among the top 10 off-road destinations in the U.S.

Sincerely,

Michael King

Man wish i was going back!!! Take some pics guys and watch out for the quads and side by sides they tend to move a little faster than us down the trail..:wave1:

Sweet! Guess I'll be buying a updated map.

Anyone bringing a grille?

If i still have my little charcoal one ill bring it. Ill let you guys know more when i get off work.

I've also got a little charcoal one and two bags of charcoal, unless someone is bringing anything nicer I'll bring it. Anybody's welcome to use it, but I'm not buying steaks for everybody.

Nick, I don't know exactly when I'm leaving on Thursday yet, I'll let you know. Hopefully not too late.
