Hard to shift 231, this could be you!!

Having just rebuilt my XJs 231, I was stumped that it was hard to shift and popped out of low range. So back to the FSM to see what was wrong.:banghead: After reviewing the pics I found out that I had put the "mode sleeve" in backwards which allows you drive all over town and put the TC in 4high,2wd, but not fully into 4lo. Now that I split the cases to correct that problem it shifts like it is supposed.

my 90 has a REALLY hard to shift lever.

It all works fine, fluid was good and was changed...

It's still really hard to pull on the lever.

is the mode sleeve the blue ring on the output shaft? if not what is it because i have this prob. and it needs to be fixed.
