Anyone here have a Hack-n-tap SYE? I am about to step up from 4.5 to 6.5 inches, and I have been looking into SYE's as a just in case scenario. I am thinking I will most likely do the Hack-n-tap style, but just wanted to see if anyone here was running one, and what people's opinions are on the topic.

I have been reading alot about those and from what I can tell, they will hold up pretty well. And that comes from many sources. but this subject is just like any other... some people will say one thing and others will disagree.

Rubicon Express... Part number RE 1801. $185.xx. Thats the most common I have found.

IronRockOffroad has their own Hack-N-Tap that comes with the drive shaft and everything for $199.00. That deal is hard to pass up!

I would say that probably the majority of the folks with an SYE are running a hack-n-tap of one variety or another.

Yes it is a good deal. But I haven't found any info on if it will work with my TC. The RE will if I get the bearing spacer. Thats why I know about the RE H-n-T.

What case do you have Kurt? I am just not really that familiar with the AMC XJs.

You think that will help take care of any vibration I would get from going higher with my lift? How much you want for it?

I dont think it will help with vibration, but will give you more slip of the driveshaft before it comes out..may save u some coins till u break ur t-case! hahaha u can have it, I dont have any use for it, plus I may need a favor one day on the trail.

I have the RE on mine and have had no problems at all. It took care of all vibrations and was super easy to install.

I think I will just take you up on this until I "need" to actually do an SYE. Since my rig doesn't really see much highway driving, I doubt I would ever notice vibrations at trail speed anyways.

I can give it ya in oct at H.S., but if you need it earlier let me know..can have it shipped up here

I run a R.E. Hack-n-Tap with the XJ front drive shaft. After I went to over 7" in the rear, the front slip yolk would hit the drive shaft and make one heck of a noise. Almost sounded like The rear end was coming apart. Also note I also run a X-fer case out of a 06 TJ and the out put shaft is a bit longer which added to my problem.

i have used h/t for yrs on my xj...never had a prob...i have used the jeep in the trails only and has been put through hell...i have since pulled that transfer case and went with a 4-1 transfer case....easy install...with basic tools on the h/t
