GI-John has been teasing me for a while with cool pics like these:

Slacker87XJ (Ian) has been teasing me with his M4 for a while:

Finally I said "ENOUGH!" Let's go shooting! So we did! Here are the pics:

Since we're Jeep guys, I thought it would be approiate to go shooting somewhere at the end of a dirt road/trail. I happen to know just such a spot; it's at the end of a gravel road that turns into a mildly challenging trail. Just challenging enough to keep the riff-raff out; we didn't have to deal with drunk rednecks or kids with their daddy's shotgun, significanty improving odds of not getting shot...always important.

Getting together at the bottom, and airing down. Why, you ask for such easy trails? Because Ian's got OBA...so we can! Very patriotic, too:

Before cleaning up the spill from Ian's Exxon Valcherokee. *No baby seals were injured*:

Peace to you too, John:

RRRAAARRRR!!!

Put that tire back on the ground, John!

Nice rack, John!

*More to come!*

Yes, this was the weekend after the 100° temps we had a couple weeks ago. Hard to believe, but that's Washington for you

I think Ian is worshiping the gun case, not really sure. You'll see a pattern emerge with Ian here....

John embodied the Boy Scout spirit...and the Coast Guard motto, come to think of it; Semper Peratus. Building our range:

God Bless America!

John getting a feel for my USP:

Ian and his SIG 9mm. "Look, it's like a real round, only smaller." ;) (It's actually a really nice pistol):

If it hadn't been so damn cloudy, Mt Rainier would have been larger than life, just where the HK is in this pic:

It would look like this, as a matter of fact:

If Zombies or Russian had attacked, they'd be screwed:

I'm getting one next week. This is fun!

I took this picture originally just to show the NWC stickers flanking our campsite...then I saw Ian. WTF? That pattern I mentioned...? Yeah. Caption this pic!

Keep up the good work, John:

Rough spot to spend an evening, huh?

Let the BS'ing begin!

Here's another "Caption this pic." The picture was supposed to be showing the Tom Woods picnic basket John won at NWFest '05...but look at his face! WOW!!!

Sunset, and brief glimpse of clear skies:

While Ian and I were washing the cordite out of our teeth with some Mirror Pond IPA, John decided to have "some" bourbon. When I went to pour myself a cup later, I though "Oh, darn. Somone must have knocked the bottle over and spilled a bunch...'cause the bottle's half empty." After voicing my displeasure, Ian and I look over and see this shit-eating grin on John's face...and it dawns on us that not a drop had been spilled...other than down John's throat! The great Maker's Theft of 2006!

Yeah, John, sure.

"I think you're number one, Matt!"

Goodbye, old friend. You died too young:

Really cool pic I took while playing with different camera settings:

Okay. I have no idea what is going on here. I call this "Camping with retards:" Feel free to think up alternate titles, and post them in the den. :D

Poke, poke:

"Hmmm, beer or water?"

John and I each slept in our respective Jeeps, but Ian, not being able to fit in his at 6'4", rolled a sleeping bag out under the stars. And rain, as it turns out. I woke up about 0500 to the pitter-patter of rain drops, and looked out to see if Ian had washed away. Instead, I see this gigantic silver tarp, with a pair of feet sticking out the bottom. Adapt and overcome!

It cooled down to the low 40°s in the morning, so we made ourselves busy making breakfast. And when I saw "we" I mean John and Ian. :D

Ah, late July in Washington! Bacon was uber-tasty:

We didn't suffer much:

Mmmmm, coffee:

"You're going to wash that, right?":

Well, hopefully y'all enjoyed the pics. For those not invited, sorry, but in the interest of safety we wanted to keep the group really small. At least for the first one of these. ;)

You guys are making it harder and harder to be deployed, missing out on all these shenanigans :tear:

Evil shenanigans?

"Hey Farve, what's that place with the mozzeralla sticks and the goofy sh!t on the walls?"

Cheers,
Jay

You can thank the MWC for teaching John to inhale whisky, or maybe just reinforcing that behavior. :D

Looks like a great time, color me officially jealous.

Rev
Ironically, John turned me onto bourbon...so I guess I can blame you guys!

I try and pretend this sticker isn't on John's Jeep....

Jump on a plane and join us! NW Fest is next week.... :D

It's School Time with Sarge:

And this is John "schooling" us. His groups, as he was walking (!), were amazing. $.50 piece size groups, damn near the bullseye every time. Hoo-Ah!

Me with the M4 going long range. To explain the smoke conversation/coughing; just prior to shooting, John sprayed about half a can of Gunk-Out into the breech to aid in cleaning later. John had warned me that there might be a "puff of smoke" for the first few rounds. That turned into gaseous Gunk-Out...which I inhaled and got in my eyes...not fun. There was a veritable mushroom cloud of noxious fumes.

When the camera pans down range, understand I'm not shooting at the big targets, but at Clay Pidgeons hidden along the far tree line. It was like an Easter Egg for gun nuts! :D
