gringing welds from inside tube

i hope this is the right place to put this, I'm almost fabbing up a front bumper and i decided to put a hitch reciever tube into it, however the steel i have at work has a weld seam on the inside of the tube and the hitch wont fit inside with this weld in the way. If i go down to the next smaller wall thickness it has to much slop. are there any clevr ways of getting rid of this weld seam on the inside?

You can also it from almost any place that sells steel.

the idea was to not spend more money when he aready gots the steel.........even though its not rated for hitch steel........you could also just grind a v on the seam side of the hitch tongue

i checked farm and fleet and didn't see anything. we actually have the reciever tubes at work but i thought they were pretty thin. we use them for mounting vises off the back of trucks so i didn't think i t would be a good recovery piece

I second this idea. I think it would be the easiest way to do it.

I understand keeping it cheap, but around here you can get a premade, predrilled hitch tube with a reinforcing lip around the end for around $8-$10.

this is likely the easiest way, or i may just buy one and be done with it. Money isn't really a problem just figured i'd build one for less than a hundred bucks instead of forking over 400 some odd dollars for the same thing

will this recever and hitch be gold plated? you can buy the whole thing for less than $100 and then install it yourself.

ok, silver plated. if you can do the reciever then you can do the whole thing for just about $50 if you do the welding and cutting, the front on mine was a whoping $4 for new bolts, the metal was scrap from work and all the reenforcements were cut from scrap as well. be creative and resoursefull and jeeps are not too expensive, but $400 is like paying someone to build the whole thing pluss installation and paint. think about the sence of accomplishment when some one asks you where did you get your bumper and you say i built it my self! right after you pull them out of the mud or what ever.

my 100 dollars was a rough estimate of cost of materials, i have no idea what the steel is going to cost until i have them invoice it for me
