grinding noise

i have a 98 xj i here a grinding noise coming from the front its not the brakes i would like some help thank u newbe

Inspect everything that rotates.

Most likely the axle shaft ujoints.

Just fixed the grinding noise in my front end last night. It was the wheel bearings. To check, jack it up, grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and see if there is any play. If so the hub assembly needs to be replaced. Do a search on wheel bearings or hub replacement or even replacing front axle shafts (pretty much the same job) and you will find many threads with info on how to check/replace these.
