Great Place to buy Snow Chains

Dam they gots LOTS-O-CHAINS. I dont know how cheap they are but chains are never cheap.

A buddy of mine did a search and found a set for around $200 for his 35x12.50's. At that time, those were the cheapest he could find.

Costco has an interesying deal for around $150.00

From what I read they are adjuatable and the range is from 31's to 35's. So if you had to buy one set these would be it. I don't know the durabilty, but you have the Costco Guarentee.

Nice idea, but I am generally against requiring tyre chains.

They replace skill with technology (or devices,) and you get more accidents that are caused by people who just don't know what the Hell they're doing out there, and shouldn't be out in the snow anyhow.

If you have 4WD and good tyres, you can usually FIND a place to go play in the snow without too much trouble - when I feel like I need practise, I check the weather up around Highway 35 out here - when it snows up there, I'll go. It's usually good practise, and there's not a lot of traffic in case you screw up (I took my two boys up there to train them.)

Of course, I'll usually still end up pulling someone out of a jam up there anyhow - that's why I carry TOW chains, not TYRE chains. If the weather gets bad enough to where I feel I need tyre chains for some reason, I'll usually stop anyhow. I honestly wish others would do the same out here - I've had enough "near misses" due to weather that I get the twitching awfuls when it rains...

Besides, what good are tyre chains if you don't use them right?

THIS THING LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING TO HOLD YOUR ASS IN A DRESS

I understand that (I think most laws should be rescinded - but that's just me,) but if you're not going to bother to know how to use something, why should just carrying it get you by?

Case in point - I've seen tyre chains on the back of FWD cars all too often, and I can't help but wonder why they aren't in a ditch (or getting pulled over for being silly, or just wrecked and out of my hair. Somehow, they always end up just missing me - and I don't bother with tyre chains, and drive straighter in the snow...)

So you can still go play in the snow when the CHP asks for them. I didn't make the laws I just follow them. Also, if you were to carry them, would it not be a good thing if they actually fit the tires you own.

who needs tyre chains when you can have boot chains?! :wierd:

Living up in Tahoe now you see alot of yuppies who have got no clue on proper snow driving technique. One day on my way to work I was passed by a subaru with no chains on (he avoided chain control) and about 5 miles down his subaru was smashed into the snow bank, clogging up the already slow moving traffic. :laugh3:
